Round 2 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition gives our teams a chance at redemption if they lost last weekend or a chance to build on an opening weekend win. There are six games to look at this weekend including our Match of the Round between first ups winners Blacktown City FC and Nepean FC. Let’s get onto the preview!

Blacktown City FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 8 March, 5pm, Landen Stadium

Blacktown City FC face off against Nepean FC in their game down at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts had an impressive 2-1 win in their travels to SD Raiders FC at Ernie Smith Reserve last weekend.

Blacktown City FC had one of the more shocking results in Round 1 and they will be keen to defend their home turf in their follow up.

New signing Isabella Rodrique found the back of the net with a incisive finish and will look to add to her tally on Sunday.

Nepean FC produced a fantastic performance beating Bankstown City FC, 3-0 in their first home game of the campaign.

Lania Fili scored the opener for Nepean FC a fantastic header and the side will be a danger on set pieces this weekend.

They put down an early marker for an improved season and coach Sean Payer will want them to repeat the dose on Sunday afternoon.

This game will be streamed LIVE on the Football NSW YouTube page with Daniel Gualterio making their debut behind the microphone.

South Coast Flame FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC, Saturday 7 March, 5pm, Sir Ian McLennan Oval

The round kicks off with South Coast Flame FC hosting Blacktown Spartans FC at Sir Ian McLennan Oval on Saturday evening.

The Flame conceded the first goal before winning 3-1 against Marconi Stallions FC in Sydney’s south-west last weekend.

It was the perfect start for Shaylee Meehan who netted in her first game alongside Flame sharpshooter Abbey Crapp.

Flame have bolstered their side with the signing of former SD Raiders FC wingback Amanda Radmilo who will bring grit and energy to the side.

Blacktown Spartans FC were clinical in their 6-1 Match of the Round result against Inter Lions FC on Sunday.

She wasn’t on the scoresheet, but Alannah Putica pulled the strings for the Spartans in their dominant win.

The Spartans back line was also solid led by former Camden Tiger Deanna Caronna who made some key interventions.

Newcastle Jets FC vs Bankstown City Lions FC, Sunday 8 March, 5pm Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility

Newcastle Jets FC take on Bankstown City Lions FC down at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets were flying in their 5-1 win against St George FC in their travels to Barton Park last Sunday afternoon.

Layla Sharpe set the tempo with a goal in the opening minute and showed that the Jets will be a side that will be near the top this season.

Coach Greg Hartge hopes that his side will back up their strong opening weekend win with another three points at home.

Bankstown City Lions FC lost 3-0 against Nepean FC in their game to finish off Round 1 in Sydney’s west.

Leading scorer Chelsea Greguric returned to the pitch after her injury and will be ready to resume her goal scoring form this season.

The Lions will be looking to bounce back and get their first points of the season against a strong Strikers side.

Sutherland Strikers FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Sunday 8 March, 5pm, Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Strikers FC host Marconi Stallions FC in a game played at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Strikers had a 6-3 win against Central Coast Mariners FC in their home game at Harrie Denning Centre.

Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe started with a bang with a pair of goals for the Strikers and underlined the attacking options in the side.

Keeper Chantele Symes returned between the sticks for the Strikers which will make them tough team to break down.

Marconi Stallions led early before they were beaten 3-1 against South Coast Flame FC at Marconi Stadium.

There will be positives to take from this game for the Stallions including a goal from Hannah Voloder to kickstart her season.

The duo of Marie Herrera and captain Daniela Brekic will be central to the Stallions moving towards their goals in 2026.

Central Coast Mariners FC vs St George FC, Sunday 8 March, 5pm, Pluim Park

Central Coast Mariners FC take on St George FC in their contest at Pluim Park on Sunday evening.

The Mariners were beaten in a nine-goal fest against Sutherland Strikers FC last Sunday afternoon.

They did score a few solid goals including a 25-yard screamer from Jaya Bowman which brought it back to 3-1 at half-time.

Matilda Gallagher and Briana Myers remain from last year’s team and two players coach Cas Wright can depend on across the season.

St George FC lost 5-1 to a rampant Newcastle Jets FC side in their opening fixture at Barton Park last Sunday.

The Saints were their own worst enemies in the loss and coach Mark Greenfield will want a response against the Mariners.

One bright spot was the debut of Aya Seino, the former Bankstown player scored in her first game with promises of more to come.

Inter Lions FC vs Camden Tigers FC, Sunday 8 March, 6:35pm, Majors Bay Reserve

Inter Lions welcome Camden Tigers FC to Majors Bay Reserve for their game to finish the round on Sunday night.

The Lions had a chastening 6-1 defeat to Blacktown Spartans FC in the first Match of the Round this season.

While it was in a losing cause, Cate Gyzen did get the Lions lone goal which will give her confidence moving forward.

Both Abbey Harrison and Belinda Anderson-Sharp put in shifts for the Lions and will be consistent performers each week.

Camden Tigers FC had the bye in the opening weekend, and they will be raring to go in the battle of the jungle cats.

Leading the side will be former Matilda Kylie Ledbrook who brings plenty of experience to this squad aiming to get their first three points of the season.

Others to keep an eye on for the Tigers will be Ashlee Taff and Logan Garard who have a sense for goal scoring.
