Saturday, 21st March 2026

Camden Tigers FC held on late to secure their first win of the 2026 season, 2-1 over Inner West Hawks FC.

Camden were awarded a penalty early in the 3rd minute when the Hawks’ Angelo Pezzano clipped Camden’s Ramiro Soto in the penalty area; Soto stepped up and converted from the spot to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The hosts continued to put pressure on the Hawks in the first half and doubled their lead in the 45th minute when Leandro Carle got in behind the Hawks’ defence and slotted the ball home for a 2-0 Tigers lead.

The Hawks had a few changes to Pezzano, Peter Phillips and Hesan Soufi in the first half, but were unable to convert, Camden 2-0 up at the break.

Inner West came out strongly in the second half and launched attacks at the Camden goal, but could not break down their defence.

The Hawks halved the deficit in the 82nd minute through Bonmyeong Koo, however, who got on the end of a low-driven cross from Peter Yannopoulos.

However, the Hawks were unable to find the equalising goal, Camden coming away with their first win of the season, 2-1, and their first win over the Hawks in seven matches.

The win for Camden saw them get off the mark for the year, while the loss for Inner West snapped their three-match winning streak.

The Tigers will hope to build off this win when they host league leaders Mounties Wanderers FC, while Inner West will look to respond when they host Fraser Park FC.
