Football NSW Hosts Successful JDL Regional Game Day in Goulburn
Football NSW held its JDL Regional Game Day on Sunday March 29th at Cookbundoon Sports Complex in Goulburn, with all Regional Associations able to send in teams.
Over 60 teams participated in the Game Day across Under 9–12 Boys and Girls.
As part of the Game Day, and Football NSW’s approach to coach development opportunities, two CPD Coach Workshops were also held on Grassroots Coaches Leading to Inspire.
The Game Day was led by Football NSW Development Manager Andrew Fearnley and Football NSW Regional Development Officers Ricky Guihot and Daniel Lucas, with support from Football NSW CET Jarrah Fuz.
Regional Football Development Manager Andrew Fearnley said that “this was a great opportunity for all of the Associations with JDL Regional Programs to come in together and experience playing matches against opponents they would not normally play against in season, whilst also an opportunity for us to look at the coaching and playing styles. Additionally, the support for the coaches in the program has grown with feedback from the matches and also in providing coaching workshops easily accessible”.
Football NSW will now focus on attending the Regional Associations with JDL training visits to provide feedback on the Association Programs in addition to further Coach Workshops across Term 2.
A second JDL Regional Game Day will be held in August with a Finals Format introduced for the Game Day. Football NSW would also like to extend our thanks to the Southern Tablelands Football Association for hosting and supporting the event with the necessary venue preparations for such a big event.
