Four teams have advanced to Round 7 of the Hahn Australia Cup Preliminary Rounds, following a midweek round that produced tight contests, strong performances from NPL Men’s NSW sides, and another reminder of the competition’s unpredictability.

The latest stage of the knockout tournament saw momentum builds, season-defining moments, and heartbreak across Tuesday and Wednesday night fixtures, with several sides moving one step closer to a coveted Round of 32 berth.

One of the tightest contests came in the all-League Two clash between Fraser Park FC and Bankstown United FC, where a single moment proved decisive. Fraser Park edged through 1-0 thanks to an unfortunate own goal from Alistair McKie in the 66th minute, continuing their impressive Cup run and edging closer to a historic milestone.

Elsewhere, APIA Leichhardt FC underlined their quality with a professional 2-0 win over Sydney University SFC. First-half goals from Levi Sciuriaga and Alex Denmead ensured a controlled progression, as APIA continue to position themselves as a front runner for a spot in the round of 32.

In an all-NPL Men’s NSW encounter, Blacktown City FC delivered a strong second-half performance to defeat St George FC 2-0, ending St George’s Cup hopes and marking a difficult start to Brian Brown’s tenure as head coach. A goal from Maksim Jez straight after the restart set the tone, before Julian Rodriguez sealed the result in stoppage time.

At the same time, Sydney Olympic FC showed their class in a dominant 4-0 victory over Randwick FC, taking control early with a double from Bailey Callaghan and a goal from Peter Politis before Daniel Wong completed the scoring in the second half.

While four teams have already secured progression, attention now turns to the remaining Round 6 fixtures, which will complete the next stage of the Cup. Midweek action resumes Wednesday 13 May with St George City FA, Manly United FC, Hakoah Sydney City East FC and Rockdale Ilinden FC all in action, before the round concludes Thursday 14 May when Wollongong United FC meet Southern & Ettalong United FC.

With places in the Round 7 draw now beginning to take shape, the path toward the Round of 32 continues to build intensity as the competition enters its decisive phase.
