Let’s get into the review!

Match of the Round: Blacktown Spartans FC 2 defeated South Coast Flame FC 1

Blacktown Spartans FC won 2-1 against South Coast Flame FC at Blacktown Football Park on Sunday evening.

The hosts were stunned early but responded strongly, with Gemma Woolley equalising in the 34th minute before a stunning goal from Kitwarla Mkali right after half-time secured the win.

For the Flame, it will be disappointing to drop points after a fast start. Chrystal Duggan made it 1-0 in the 2nd minute before they were pegged back. Their best chances in the second half fell to Shaylee Meehan and substitute Bessie Riethmuller.

South Coast Flame FC stunned the hosts early. Chrystal Duggan pounced on a loose ball and caught Spartans keeper Alexis Tan off her line to make it 1-0 in the 2nd minute.

The Flame maintained their fast start, with Shaylee Meehan heading wide before Emily Kostovski also created an effort that went off target.

The Spartans slowly began to find their rhythm, mainly through Rita Boateng, who had a tame shot straight at Flame custodian Sophie Emery.

Blacktown Spartans FC made it 1-1 in the 34th minute. A well-weighted ball found Gemma Woolley, who fired home confidently.

The Flame tried to restore their lead before the break, with Molly Lawless forcing a save from Tan after a strong effort.

The Spartans made a half-time change, bringing on Milena Visser, who was immediately involved, finding Woolley who fired straight at goal.

The hosts completed the turnaround in the 47th minute. A corner fell to Kitwarla Mkali, who floated her effort into the top corner to make it 2-1.

Meehan continued to push for the Flame, driving through the Spartans defence but unable to create a clear chance.

Spartans pushed forward looking for a third, with Sheiden Jabour firing an effort straight at Emery from the edge of the box.

Woolley had a chance to finish the game after dispossessing the Flame defence but dragged her effort wide.

Substitute Tsoler Nazarian also went close, firing just past the right post.

Blacktown Spartans FC saw out the final stages professionally to secure a valuable three points and move closer to the top four.
