Community Spirit Shines As Camden Falcons And Macarthur FA Receive Club Changer Honour

Football NSW has recognised Macarthur Football Association and Camden Falcons FC as the dual Club Changer Clubs of the Month for July, acknowledging their remarkable resilience, strong community spirit and unwavering commitment to keeping football accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for all participants.

The recognition comes after one of the most challenging periods in Camden Falcons FC’s proud history, following the devastating fire that destroyed the club’s much-loved clubhouse.

More than just a building, the clubhouse was the heart of the Falcons community, a place where players, coaches, referees, volunteers, families and supporters gathered and created memories that helped shape the identity of the club over many years.

While the loss was significant, Camden Falcons refused to allow the setback to define them. Instead, the club united, displaying the resilience and determination that have become synonymous with the Falcons.

Committee members, volunteers, coaches, players and parents worked together to ensure football activities continued with minimal disruption, keeping the needs of members and the wider community at the forefront of every decision.

Through the dedication of its volunteers and the ongoing support and collaboration of Macarthur Football Association, Camden Falcons continued to provide opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to participate in the game they love.

The response highlighted the strength of community football and reinforced the strong sense of belonging that exists not only within the Falcons family, but throughout the wider Macarthur football community.

Camden Falcons Football Club President Cindy Fielder praised the overwhelming support received from the football community.

“While the loss of our clubhouse has been incredibly difficult for our members, the support we have received from Macarthur Football Association, Football NSW and clubs across the region has been overwhelming.

“The willingness of the football community to come together and help has reinforced the values that make community sport so powerful.”

Fielder added that the club remains committed to rebuilding and creating a new home for future generations of Falcons.

“We remain committed to working collaboratively with Camden Council, MFA and Football NSW to secure funding and rebuild a clubhouse at Belgenny Reserve.

“We hope to see a new ‘The Falcons Nest’ that honours the members who built the original clubhouse and laid the foundations for generations of Falcons.

“This recognition belongs to every volunteer, player, coach, parent and supporter who has stood by the club during this time.”

Macarthur Football Association General Manager Paul Bertolissio praised the response from the region’s football community.

“At Macarthur Football Association, we’re incredibly proud of the resilience shown by Camden Falcons FC and the way our entire football community has rallied around them during such a difficult time.

“While losing a clubhouse was a significant setback, it also demonstrated what makes community football so special — clubs putting competition aside to support one another when it matters most.

“Seeing our clubs support each other like this has been a real reminder that we’re stronger together, and that’s what will continue to grow football across the Macarthur region.”

Football NSW Club Development Program Manager Trevor Huxley also praised the resilience shown by Camden Falcons and the support provided by Macarthur Football Association and its clubs.

“It has been fantastic to see the entire footballing community from across the Macarthur Football Association footprint rally together to support Camden Falcons during such a tough time.”

The Club Changer program continues to recognise clubs that demonstrate positive change, strong governance, inclusivity and a commitment to creating better football environments for their communities.
