JDL Futsal Cup Showcases Next Generation Of Football Talent Through Futsal Pathway
The next generation of football talent was on display as the Football NSW JDL Futsal Cup July Tournament delivered two exciting days of competition at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope.
Held on 15 and 16 July, the tournament brought together 11 clubs, with 14 Under 9 Mixed teams and 17 Under 10 Mixed teams taking part in a celebration of futsal, skill development and football pathway opportunities.
The JDL Futsal Cup forms part of Football NSW’s broader futsal strategy, with a focus on strengthening the connection between JDL football programs and futsal opportunities across the state.
The tournament provides clubs and players with the chance to experience futsal as another pathway within the game, helping develop technical ability, creativity and decision-making while creating new opportunities for footballers of all levels.
Through initiatives such as the JDL Futsal Cup, Football NSW aims to increase awareness and participation in futsal, highlighting how clubs can incorporate the game into their overall football offering throughout the year.
Football NSW Futsal Manager Jordan Guerreiro praised the quality of the tournament and the enthusiasm shown by clubs, players and families across the two days.
“There was a lot of entertainment and familiar faces from the football world coming and enjoying what was a good day of futsal and talent,” Guerreiro said.
“There were a lot of discussions between different clubs with progressive outlooks on the game of futsal and how their club can get more involved and implement futsal throughout the year through a variety of different programs.
“Nevertheless, there was a lot of action, lots of skill and lots of fun on display.”
The tournament also provided an opportunity for clubs to explore how futsal can complement their existing football programs and support player development through a different style of competition.
The JDL Futsal Cup concluded with two deserving champions crowned.
