One Game, One Champion: Flame And Jets Set For Grand Final

The Football NSW League One Women’s Grand Final takes centre stage at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday night, with South Coast Flame FC taking on Newcastle Jets FC to see who will finish their season with silverware.

Grand Final: South Coast Flame FC vs Newcastle Jets FC

Sunday 6 September 2026 – 6:15pm, Valentine Sports Park

South Coast Flame FC and Newcastle Jets FC meet in the League One Women’s Grand Final at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday night.

The Flame were the first side to qualify for the decider after their 2-1 win against Marconi Stallions FC at Marconi Stadium #2 on Saturday night.

Sariah Wilson got the party started in that result with her goal and has been a consistent force for the Flame throughout the season.

Alongside her, Emily Kostovski and Shaylee Meehan provide plenty of pace to keep defenders on their toes and create opportunities in front of goal.

Both Lara Dipple and Alexis Malizis were massive in helping sweep away the Stallions’ late attacking efforts and will be called upon again against the Jets’ potent attack.

This weekend was certainly one for the goalkeepers.

Sophie Emery produced some superb saves in the second half to deny the Stallions and will need another big performance on Sunday if the Flame are to lift the trophy.

It is a big night for South Coast Flame FC, with both their First Grade and U23s sides into the decider and plenty of support expected from the club in the stands.

Coach Daniel Naumovski has overseen the journey for South Coast Flame FC and, if they can lift the trophy on Sunday, it would provide a perfect ending to the season.

Newcastle Jets FC, meanwhile, produced a superb rearguard effort to overturn a two-goal deficit against SD Raiders FC before winning 3-2 on penalties after the scores were locked at 2-2 after 120 minutes.

Goalkeeper Ally Boertje was the hero for the academy side, producing a remarkable performance and saving four penalties across the game.

She will be ready for another big showing on Sunday night.

Up front, Mackenzie Preston-Poole and Makayla Clifton formed a potent double act in the Semi-Final, with their pace and power set to make things difficult for the Flame defence.

Sophie Howarth had an immense performance at the back despite cramping up late and will once again be tasked with patrolling the Jets’ backline.

From set pieces, Navah Crofton has provided some wicked deliveries throughout the season and could be central to the Jets finding the back of the net on Sunday.

From the bench, Julieanne Fox and Sunny Alston provided plenty of impact in the Semi-Final, so if the game remains level late, they could once again be called upon to make a difference.

The Jets have experienced an up-and-down season during their first foray into League One Women’s football, but now have the opportunity to cap it off with Grand Final victory.

The two sides have already met twice this season, with the Flame holding the advantage after securing a draw and a victory across their two encounters.

However, all of that history will count for little when the teams step onto the pitch on Sunday night.

With Championship glory on the line, both sides will be determined to produce their best football when it matters most.
