Vale Andrew Fathers

Football NSW was saddened to learn of the passing of former employee Andrew Fathers.

Andrew was a well-known and highly regarded member of the football community across NSW, dedicating many years of service to the game in a variety of roles both on and off the field.

During his time with Football NSW, Andrew worked as a Competitions Coordinator, playing an important role in the administration and delivery of football competitions across the state.

His responsibilities included managing weekly fixtures, competition regulations, match-related matters and finals series logistics, helping ensure the smooth operation of Football NSW competitions.

Beyond his professional role, Andrew’s connection with football extended across many areas of the game.

A passionate referee, Andrew contributed his knowledge and experience to officiating, while also being involved in various football organisations and initiatives throughout NSW.

Andrew was also a valued contributor at community level, serving as both Treasurer and Registrar of Australian Catholic University Football Club (ACU FC), where he continued to support the growth and administration of grassroots football.

His commitment to football administration also saw him contribute to judiciary structures, including serving as a Judiciary and Appeals Panel Member with the Bankstown District Amateur Football Association, providing his expertise and dedication to maintaining the integrity of the game.

Andrew’s football journey also included coaching, with him taking on the role of Head Coach of the Australian Army National Football Team, further highlighting his passion for developing players and contributing to football at all levels.

Those who knew Andrew will remember him as someone who consistently gave his time, knowledge and energy to football. Whether through competitions, refereeing, coaching or club administration, his contribution helped strengthen the game and support countless participants across NSW.

Football NSW extends its deepest condolences to Andrew’s family, friends, former colleagues and everyone throughout the football community who had the privilege of knowing him.

A dedicated football servant whose contribution to the game will be remembered.
