Grassroots Football Boosted As Three Football South Coast Clubs Secure Facility Funding
Football NSW has welcomed a significant boost for grassroots football across the South Coast, with three Football South Coast clubs receiving much-needed funding through the NSW Government’s Active Regional Communities Package Community Participation Program.
The investment will support important facility upgrades at Albion Park White Eagles Soccer Club, Woonona Football Club and Fairy Meadow United FC, helping create safer, more accessible and improved environments for players, volunteers, families and the wider football community.
The funding is part of a broader $7 million investment supporting 24 community-led projects across the South Coast, designed to strengthen participation, improve facilities and create more connected regional communities.
For football clubs, these upgrades represent an important step in ensuring local facilities continue to meet the needs of growing participation numbers and provide positive experiences for everyone involved in the game.
Albion Park White Eagles Soccer Club has secured $177,566 across two projects to deliver a new awning and facility upgrades at Terry Reserve in Shellharbour City Council.
Woonona Football Club will receive $18,182 for an Ocean Park goalpost upgrade, improving safety and creating a more inclusive environment for community sport in Wollongong.
Fairy Meadow United FC has been awarded $46,297 for a ball stop fence upgrade, enhancing safety and improving the matchday experience at the club’s facilities.
Football NSW Infrastructure and Club Coordinator Lachlan Mainwaring said investment in community facilities was critical to supporting the continued growth of football across NSW.
“Football continues to grow at all levels across NSW, and ensuring our clubs have safe, accessible and quality facilities is essential to supporting that growth,” Tsatsimas said.
“These projects are fantastic examples of how investment in grassroots infrastructure can have a significant impact on players, volunteers, families and the wider community.
“We congratulate Albion Park White Eagles, Woonona and Fairy Meadow United on securing this funding and thank the NSW Government for recognising the important role football clubs play in bringing communities together.”
The funding announcement highlights the ongoing demand for improved football infrastructure as participation continues to increase across regional NSW.
Football South Coast clubs continue to play a vital role in providing opportunities for thousands of players, coaches, referees, volunteers and families, with facility upgrades such as these helping clubs remain sustainable and welcoming environments for future generations.
The Active Regional Communities Package forms part of the NSW Government’s broader investment into regional communities, supporting projects that encourage participation, connection and community wellbeing.
Football NSW acknowledges the importance of continued collaboration between government, councils, associations and clubs in strengthening the foundations of community football.
These upgrades will provide long-term benefits for the South Coast football community, helping clubs continue to grow and provide quality football experiences for years to come.
