Jeff Stewart’s remarkable contribution to grassroots football has earned further recognition, with the long-serving outgoing Sutherland Shire Football Association (SSFA) CEO nominated for Administrator of the Year at this year’s NSW Sports Awards.

The nomination caps off a massive year for Jeff, who was recently honoured with a coveted Football NSW State Award at the Football NSW State Dinner on Saturday, recognising his outstanding service and dedication to the game.

The winners of the NSW Sports Awards will be announced at the gala NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony at The Sydney Event Centre, The Star, Pyrmont, on Monday, 23 November.

Jeff’s contribution to football spans more than four decades and reflects an extraordinary commitment to the game, its people and the wider Sutherland Shire football community.

For more than 35 years, Jeff has devoted his time, knowledge and energy to football as a volunteer, administrator and leader. For the past 16 years, he has served as CEO of the SSFA, helping guide one of Australia’s largest grassroots football associations, which supports 26 member clubs and approximately 20,000 registered players.

His impact, however, extends well beyond the numbers.

Throughout his tenure, Jeff has been a constant source of knowledge, stability and support for clubs, volunteers, players, coaches and referees. Working tirelessly behind the scenes, he has helped strengthen grassroots football, navigate significant changes within the game and ensure community football continues to grow and evolve.

Jeff has also fostered strong relationships across all levels of football, building valuable connections with key community stakeholders. His deep understanding of the game, its history and the people who make it possible has been invaluable to the SSFA and the broader football community.

Perhaps his greatest legacy is the respect he has earned from those around him. For Jeff, the commitment has never been about personal recognition, but about serving the game and ensuring others have the opportunity to participate in and enjoy football.

As Jeff prepares to conclude his 16-year tenure as SSFA CEO, following more than 35 years of service to the game, his nomination for Administrator of the Year is a fitting acknowledgement of a career defined by dedication, leadership and an unwavering commitment to community football.

Following his recent Football NSW State Award, the NSW Sports Awards nomination provides another opportunity to celebrate the lasting impact Jeff has made on football across the Sutherland Shire and beyond.
