Well known Futsal star keeper Angelo Konstantinou that has graced the PUMA F-League as well as the Futsal Premier League playing for the likes of the Inner West Magic and Boomerangs FS not to mention recently representing the Futsalroos at this year’s World Cup became the hero of the Nation’s Capital as he struck a 95th minute penalty against the Green Gully Cavaliers to earn a semi-final clash against Hyundai A-League side Sydney FC.

The 37-year-old cut short his recent trip to Las Vegas with a few Futsalroos players after their Futsal World Cup tournament ended prematurely in Colombia and returned to chilly Canberra to compete in the quarter-final battle against a much fancied Victorian outfit in the Cavaliers.

Canberra Olympic were the underdogs coming into this match and had it all to do when Adam Rogic saw red early in the second half.

Having made several big saves during the match, Konstantinou was called upon at the death to convert a penalty which he smashed home that sent the home crowd into raptures.

It was the second time in the Westfield FFA Cup competition the big keeper was called upon to take a spot kick as he took one in the club’s round of 16 match against Redlands United and made no mistake from the spot.

Konstantinou will now have the opportunity to do more damage as his side entertain Hyundai A-League outfit Sydney FC in the semi-final of the Cup to be played at Viking Park where you can be sure will be vocal with the home faithful getting behind their number one man in Angelo.
