Enfield Allstars v Inner West Magic

What a classic derby between Enfield Allstars and Inner West Magic awaits at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Friday night.

Defending champions Enfield have their backs against the wall sitting four points behind fourth-placed Inner West with four rounds remaining – another loss here would probably see them slip out of the playoff picture altogether.

Magic have been waiting 12 months to make amends for last summer’s embarrassment that saw one of their strongest lineups ever miss out on the finals, and victory this Friday would set them up nicely for a great shot of finishing first past the post.

So here they are, two fiercely proud rivals who can wreck the other’s season while rejuvenate their own competition standing.

The history between them is mesmerising: Eight Inner West wins to Enfield’s seven, plus four intense draws (including an epic 4-4 stalemate earlier this summer) – and 14 of their last 15 meetings have been decided by a minuscule two goals or less.

Bring your popcorn and shades, as there’s sure to be fireworks!

Mountain Majik v Mascot Vipers

The red-hot action continues at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday afternoon when second-placed Mountain Majik hosts leaders Mascot Vipers.

Just two points separates the pair on the table but there’s a huge difference in current form: Mascot haven’t won any of their last three games to see their competition lead whittled away, while Mountain have only lost one of their last seven to shoot into premiership contention.

A big part of Majik’s revival has been sharpshooter Jordan Guerreiro who’s tallied six goals in his last three runs (10 overall), although Vipers have their own weapon in Bruno Mendes, a dozen goals seeing him top the league scoring chart.

A tight head-to-head record has Mountain narrowly ahead with six wins to Mascot’s five, two draws (including a 4-4 deadlock last time they met), and a crazy 9.8 goal-per-game average every time they face each other – Guerreiro with a remarkable 11 goals in their last eight encounters.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah v Campbelltown Quake

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah will have their hands full when they welcome Campbelltown Quake to All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday night.

Win-less Campbelltown is a side nobody wants to meet at the moment because they have nothing to lose and have stuck it to every opponent despite their lowly ladder position.

The fact that seven of their 10-straight defeats have been by two goals or less (three of their last four games by a single goal) shows they simply aren’t looking at the points table – they’re transfixed on being the playoff wrecking ball.

However, one more loss would see Quake collect the tag of most consecutive premier league defeats so they still have plenty on the line.

Easts also have a lot to play for, they’re joint-second just two points off leaders Mascot, and a second-year premiership would be a remarkable achievement.

Hakoah have won two of their three Quake fixtures, including a solid 7-4 result in round-four.

UTS Northside v Boomerangs FS

UTS Northside versus Boomerangs FS at PCYC Dee Why on Saturday night will be a fascinating encounter.

Boomerangs have only notched up two wins in a mostly frustrating summer (just 17 goals scored in 10 matches) but, on their day, have been a real thorn throughout.

Northside are enjoying their best-ever season but still remain perched just outside a top-four position – they’ve never played a top-flight finals match and missing out on the playoffs (again) may undermine an otherwise excellent summer.

Against each other the sides have collected one win each and a thrilling 4-4 draw in 2016 (on UTS turf).

2019-20 Men’s Futsal Premier League round-12 preview

Mountain Majik v UTS Northside

With a top-four spot up for grabs what a match Mountain Majik versus UTS Northside will be at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Currently separated by just two points this game could make or break either side’s playoff aspirations, particularly following round-11 games where Mountain face leaders Mascot and Northside play Boomerangs – meaning their positions could swap 24 hours before this contest.

Majik lead the head-to-head count 5-3 with three draws showing that they’ve been evenly matched in pretty tight encounters over the years (5.1 goals-a-game average), and a 4-1 Mountain win in round-five is bang-on with those stats.

Boomerangs FS v Enfield Allstars

An interesting clash involves Boomerangs FS and Enfield Allstars at the AIS Training Halls on Sunday afternoon.

Boomerangs won’t make the finals and, depending on Enfield’s Friday night result against Inner West, neither will Allstars, relegating this battle to a matter of pride or a possible playoff platform for Enfield.

Allstars have beaten Boomerangs six times in 10 meetings, including four of the last five match-ups – they won 4-1 in round-five.

Inner West Magic v Campbelltown Quake

Inner West Magic and Campbelltown Quake continue their rich history at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday evening.

Inner West will be pushing for a possible premiership trophy with a double weekend-win depending on their Friday night foray versus Enfield, while Campbelltown will be trying hard to breakthrough for a first-up victory this summer.

What’s undeniable is a ledger that could easily feature in a Game of Thrones episode – they’ve met in seven finals encounters and 19 of their 27 matches have been decided by three goals or less.

Magic hold the upper hand with 15 wins to Quake’s nine, with Mark Symington’s 18 fixture-goals countered by Daniel Fogarty’s 15.

Campbelltown were excellent value in a tight 2-4 loss to Inner West in round five but haven’t beaten their old foes since late-2017.

Mascot Vipers v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah

It’s a probable top-two showdown when Mascot Vipers take on Eastern Suburbs Hakoah at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday night.

Mascot’s had their lead narrowed to two points over Easts and Mountain and can either open up a new gap or be swallowed up whole this weekend.

It’s been tight between the two sides with traded one-goal victories and a draw from their three meetings to date, and this result is possibly the most anticipated of the season with Easts closing in on a famous second-season ending.
