AFC Women’s Asian Cup Trophy Road Trip Visits Sporting School Ahead of March Kick-Off
With the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ kicking off from Sunday 1 March, excitement is building across New South Wales and students at one of our Sporting Schools recently had a special opportunity to be part of the celebration.
Thomas Hassall Anglican College proudly hosted the AFC Women’s Asian Cup “Trophy Road Trip,” giving 30 representative girls from Years 3–6 the incredible chance to see the tournament trophy up close and capture photos with one of women’s football’s most prestigious prizes.
The visit also included an engaging football session and tournament giveaways, with students receiving sticker books, bracelets and official booklets as part of the build-up to the March kick-off.
Football NSW Sporting Schools Program Manager Tunahan Guner highlighted the significance of the tournament for the local football community: “This tournament is a massive moment for the women’s game here in Australia. With Sydney as a host city for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, it shines a real spotlight on the quality, growth and direction of football in our region. From grassroots participation programs right through to our elite pathways, the impact is significant — and even better knowing the football community will be right at the centre of it.”
With 11 matches set to be played across Western Sydney Stadium and Stadium Australia, the Trophy Road Trip provided a fantastic opportunity to build anticipation and inspire the next generation of female footballers in Western Sydney ahead of the tournament’s historic kick-off.
