Football NSW holds Girls Football Australia Talent Development Scheme event
Football NSW hosted the Girls Football Australia Talent Development Scheme event across Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February, bringing together 72 talented players from the 2010 and 2011 age groups for two days of high-level training, education and competition.
The event culminated in a highly competitive match on Thursday evening, providing players with the opportunity to showcase their development in a game environment.
Junior Matildas National Team Coach Mike Cooper attended the event, delivering insightful presentations to both players and coaches while observing training sessions and matches across the two days.
“It was great to work with the players and staff in FNSW over the two-day event, and the talent on show is exciting for the future,” Cooper said. “The TDS events are key for our ongoing talent identification and monitoring processes, and we look forward to another one later in the year.”
A total of 26 coaches also attended a coach education workshop on Thursday evening, titled ‘The Importance of Skill Development’, delivered by Cooper.
“The coaching workshop focused on technique development is an important part of player progression, and we thank all the coaches who attended,” he added.
Football NSW player development manager Nadine reflected positively on the event’s success.
“We are extremely happy with how well the event went overall. The talent observed across both days in training and matches was certainly impressive, and it gives us great confidence that our players are continuing to develop and thrive in these environments,” she said.
Football NSW extends its thanks to all players, parents, coaches and clubs for their involvement and contribution to another successful Talent Development Scheme event.
