Joint Communication from FFA and Football NSW

As you know this decision followed receipt by the FNSW Board of the report it had commissioned from the independent Commission of Enquiry.
In relation to the future composition of the Board, as advised last week the Commission?s Report made various recommendations concerning structural, operational and governance matters within FNSW. In essence the report recommended that a review into the operations and governance of FNSW be conducted under the supervision of an interim board of appointed directors. It is expected that the review will take six months and upon completion director elections will be held.
The primary focus of the interim Board will be the supervision of the conduct of the review.
To allow this to happen, the following directors whose terms were due to expire at the AGM have resigned as directors of Football NSW ? Linda Ward (effective 9 December 2010), George Jackson (effective 16 December 2010). Jim Forrest has also agreed to resign effective from 4 January 2011. Formal recognition of these directors over many years will be made separately.
As FFA?s largest member, FFA looks to FNSW to be a leader in on-field and off-field aspects of the game, and considers this review to be an opportunity to identify structural and governance reforms that could benefit the whole of the game.
Accordingly FFA and FNSW are conferring over the best course of action to implement the necessary reforms.
We appreciate that there may a period of uncertainty for members as we work through this process and wish to assure members that we will be working very closely together to take the opportunity presented to conduct such a review in the interests of football in NSW, its members and football more generally.
Yours sincerely,
Ben Buckley Ian Holmes
Chief Executive Officer (FFA) General Manager (Football NSW)
