Waratah Cup Round 4 Review

On Tuesday evening, three matches took centre stage with Jensen Park producing a boil over result as Super League outfit Bankstown City Lions coached by George Nohra defeated the high flying NSW Premier League?s South Coast Wolves 2-0 at Jensen Park. Strikers Gosue Sama and Robbie Mileski were Bankstown?s heroes scoring in what was a memorable evening for the club.
At Melita Stadium, Marconi Stallions set aside their current slump in form and defeated Parramatta FC 1-0 thanks to a goal from Jamie McMaster.
Finally at Seymour Shaw, Sutherland Sharks defeated NSW Super League side Fraser Park 3-0 pushing them to the quarter finals of the prestigious Cup as goals from Panny Nikas, Hussein Salameh and Matthew Bailey secured their place.
On Wednesday evening four matches took place with Illawarra Premier League side Dapto Dandaloo Fury producing one of the shocks of the round defeating Mark Rudan?s Rockdale City Suns squad 4-3 on penalties. The game ended 1-1 as debutant and former Gold Coast United striker Dylan Macallister got on the scoresheet but it wasn?t enough as the Fury edged it in the spot-kicks advancing them to the quarter final stages of the Cup.
At Lily Homes Stadium, NSW Premier League side Blacktown City FC smashed State League One outfit UNSW 8-0. Club captain Luke Roodenburg was the star of the evening as on his 200th match for the club racked up a hat-trick while Daniel Bragg, Travis Major, Yuchi Yamauchi and Ryuji Miyazawa notching up goals.
At the Crest in Georges Hall NSW Super League side Bankstown Berries took out an eventful match with a hard fought 3-2 win over ACT Premier League side Canberra FC. The opponents from the Nation?s Capital struck first via Daniel Bennett before the Berries responded with two quick-fire goals by Jordan Figon and Peter Peralta but Aaron Evans levelled the scoring in the 33rd minute. The star of the night went to Peralta who scored the winner in the 53rd minute as the Berries celebrated victory on what was a chilly wintery Wednesday night.
While at Lambert Park, NSW Premier League side APIA Leichhardt Tigers defeated NSW Super League side St George FC 3-0 thanks to goals from Ethan Galbraith, David D?Apuzzo and Mun Soo Gill.
The final match took place on Thursday evening as NSW Premier League front runners Bonnyrigg White Eagles took on NSW Super League side Spirit FC at Christie Park. The White Eagles defeated their Super League opponents 4-1 with goals from Jordan Simpson, Harris Gaitatzis, Nikola Stanojevic scored a brace to book a place in the quarter finals of the Waratah Cup.
