Sydney FC’s playing roster will return to work on Monday June 2 with a host of community appearances lined up across the Sydney region.

The squad will be out in force across the month of June, visiting a range of grassroots football clubs in the evenings to partake in training sessions with the juniors as well as pose for photos and sign autographs for those who one day aspire to be like them.

Stretching from Mosman to Menai and Curl Curl to Canterbury, the Sydney FC playing roster for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season, including new signings Shane Smeltz and Bernie Ibini, will be dispersed to impart their knowledge in one of Sydney FC’s largest community operations this year.

Sydney FC’s Community Football Officer Paul Reid said the club is increasing their community visits from what they were last year, and wants to building on the success of past programs.

Reid expects Sydney FC’s players to spend more than 250 hours in the community over the month of June and revealed the players are delighted to be going back to their roots.

“All Sydney FC players will commit to an extensive number of community hours by attending various junior football clubs in a host of associations in the months of June and July,” Reid said.

“It was extremely successful last year and we are looking to further expand it this year. The Sydney FC A-League players will assist in running the training sessions, provide some advice to the junior footballers, undertake a Q&A with the youngsters and sign some autographs.

“It will also be a great opportunity for the players to inform the young footballers of Sydney FC’s free Junior Blues membership program.”

The Sky Blues squad will also be in attendance at the club’s five adidas school holiday clinics which take place over four venues including Macquarie University Sports Fields, SHORE War Memorial Playing Field, the Hills Grammar School and Scot’s College.

Players will be available for photos and interviews by phone after the sessions.
