Valentine Sports Park played host to its second successive Futsal Grand Finals action; this time the SELECT Futsal Premier League 2 & AWD competitions took centre stage in what was a fantastic Saturday afternoon at Football NSW headquarters in Glenwood.
Ten categories ranging from the 12 Boys, 13 Girls, 14 Boys, 15 Girls, 16 Boys, 17 Girls, Youth Men, Open Women, Open Men and AWD Futsal League 2 all kicked off at the fantastic indoor centre facilities with each match explained in detail below via the official match reports.
12 BOYS
Phoenix Futsal Club prevailed 6-5 after extra time in an entertaining contest to kick off the Select Futsal Premier League 2 Grand Final Day.
It took less than 60 seconds for the ball to find the back of the net as Joshua Dobson slotted the opener to make it 1-0 Phoenix Futsal Club.
With some hearty support the Campbelltown City Quake responded quickly through William Provino to equalise it at 1-1.
The Quake took their first lead of the contest on nine minutes as Daniel Fatouleh shaped a powerful effort past the Phoenix keeper.
In a first half that featured six goals shared evenly Tyler Zimbounellis had the pick of them as he deceived the Quakes keeper at the far post for 2-2.
Provino made it a first half brace when he turned well in the area before he snapped a shot into the roof of the net for a second Quakes lead at 3-2.
Not be outdone, Dobson also completed his brace as he rolled past a defender and smartly finished an entertaining half of futsal.
Phoenix once again were the first to trouble the scorers in the second half, as William Gomez-Balestro curved a first time effort for 4-3 to his Futsal Club.
The rise of the Phoenix as Adam Shaheen provided a two goal cushion with eight minutes remaining as the Quakes hopes faded fast.
Callum Powell gave the Quake some hope as he swept home from an incisive passing movement that made it 5-4 with 60 seconds to go.
Could be destined to not be Campbelltown City’s day as Powell followed his goal up with an effort that thundered off the crossbar. The clocked ticked down but there was enough time for a final push for the Quakes.
They swept downfield with some quick passes that found Provino wide open to complete his hat-trick and send this contest into extra time.
In an extra time that was tense and not packed with moments, it only took one as Dobson rattled the crossbar with a free-kick which he followed into the net for the decisive 6-5 score.

13 GIRLS
Campbelltown City Quake survived a rearguard from Sydney City Eagles to secure the 13 Girls Grand Final with a 3-2 victory this morning.
The Quake started the contest off fast as they tested Eagles keeper Isabella Sollecito several times in the first 120 seconds but she stood firm.
The fast start provided the opening goal of the contest as some tricky passing around the penalty area allowed it to be deflected into the net for a 1-nil lead.
They could have furthered their advantage in the 17th minute as Aleksia Ostojic stepped up to take a penalty after a handball but blasted her effort high.
Sydney City Eagles had Sollecito to thank for keeping the scoreline at 1-nil as the Quake peppered her goal in the opening twenty minutes.
Sienna Excell registered the first shot for the Eagles three minutes after the resumption but failed to test Ryna Prasad in the Quake goal.
The pressure eventually tolled as Darcey Malone scored the second goal for the Quake once again off a deflection but it inched them closer to the trophy.
Tara Baudana added a third in the 38th minute as the Quakes entertained the largely partisan crowd at Valentine Sports Park.
The Eagles gave them a scare late on as Lucia White swept home twice as reward for their effort in making the final.

In the tenth the hat-trick was complete as De Melo finished smartly. He also led the Eastern Suburbs Hakoah team around the court with instruction and purpose in the thumping.
Ben Katz got himself on the scoresheet five minutes after the half-time break with an angled effort make it a five star performance for Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal.

15 GIRLS
Phoenix Futsal Club edged a dramatic extra time finale 2-1 in the 15 Girls Grand Final with Isabel Gomez the hero with her late winner.
Overall it was a game that Phoenix Futsal Club dominated but they were never able to close the door on a gutsy Campbelltown City Quake side.
Georgina Markovich was on hand for the Phoenix to open the scoring when she pounced on a mistake at the back from the Quake.
Despite the low scoring nature, it was a frantic contest. Isabel Gomez had the best chance following the goal of the first half but was denied twice by Luisa Rocchetto in the Quake goal.
Rocchetto made a string of key saves throughout the contest to keep the Quake in the contest at 1-nil and still in with a chance.
In the second half the Quake started to complete some more moves and worked their way into the contest but neither side pounced on the chance offered in the second stanza.
The Quake hung in the contest and got their due reward five minutes before the end of the game as Darcey Malone was able to find the back of the net to take the contest to extra time.
Quake had the first chance of extra time as Sheridan Gallagher swept behind the defense but agonizingly hit the base of the post.
Phoenix made them pay in the seventh minute of extra time as Gomez rose highest from a corner and nodded it past a disparing Rocchetto for the 2-1 win.

16 BOYS
Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal made it two for two grand final victories in a professional 4-2 performance against a gallant Sydney City Eagles team.
Both teams got into their rhythm early in the contest as neither team wanted to concede an inch. Eastern Suburbs struck first through Aswin Adinanto’s volley finish within the first five minutes of the contest.
Hakoah asserted their dominance as Jake Besser swept in their second after he crashed the initial effort off the crossbar.
Sydney City were creating some good chances but weren’t able to finish them off. It took a strong effort from Dean Pelekanos to claw one back in the second half.
Once again it was Besser at the double for Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal when he powered home a penalty for a two goal Hakoah cushion.
The Eagles refused to die wondering though, as Nikita Parkes provided some slim hope as he finished off a well constructed move. In their desperation the Eagles pulled their keeper to search for a third.
They continued to search for another goal but their attacking gave Hakoah the space to add a late fourth and squash the comeback. Henry Bickerstaff directed his shot well enough to evade the Eagles defense for a 4-2 victory.

17 GIRLS
Raiders Futsal are champions of the Select Futsal Premier League 2 17 Girls competition after a rugged 3-1 tie against Phoenix Futsal Club this afternoon.
In a tight affair the chances were at a premium for most of the contest as the two sides tested each other out in the opening exchange of the contest.
Raiders Futsal were the first to carve out a chance and it was put into the back of the net. Alyssa Marco finished off a move to make it 1-nil Raiders.
As the game opened up Raiders found more space behind an attacking Phoenix side. Emma Voloder trickled her effort inside the cage for a 2-nil lead for the Raiders Futsal side.
Phoenix Futsal pushed forward as Sarah Moore tested Raiders custodian Jasmine Crouch was up to the task as she smothered well.
Isabel Gomez tried her luck but slashed an effort wide as the Phoenix were frustrated by a stubborn Raiders side clinging onto their lead.
Eventually Crouch was beaten by a deflected effort from Leila Hezlett making it 2-1 and life back into the Phoenix side as the clock ticked down.
As the Phoenix pushed forward, the Raiders provided a sucker punch to kill off the game. Talie Walton swept home for a 3-1 lead and sent the bench into rapturous celebration. The players joined in after the final whistle to show how much this meant to them.

AWD FUTSAL LEAGUE 2
Raiders Futsal Club have run out convincing 5-2 winners in the Select AWD Futsal League 2 Grand Final this afternoon.
AWD Futsal League 2 Golden Boot Dion Kalogiros showed why he was crowned that four minutes into the contest as he stabbed home for a 1-nil lead.
Phoenix Futsal Club responded almost immediately as Rodney Afif was on hand to sweep home a nicely worked goal to restore parity at 1-1.
Sean Brown went close to restoring the Raiders lead as he tried to cannon one past Phoenix custodian Nicole Murray but she was up to task and pushed it over the cage.
The second would come for the Raiders from who else but Kalogiros as he nudged the ball across Murray for 2-1. Kevin Frew added a third with a nice side foot finish before the break as the Raiders made it 3-1.
Harry Woodhouse clawed one back for the Phoenix side as he turned nicely before he finished with aplomb to make it 3-2.
From there though, it was the Kalogiros show – the golden boot winner added two more well taken finishes for a bag of four goals at full-time. His hat-trick was a powerful shot that was too much for Murray to handle.
The fourth was a cheeky finish from a corner late in the game as Raiders looked to entertain the crowd. For their effort Phoenix continued to search for goals as Sebastian Sauri had a pair of chances which were slashed wide.
In the end, Raiders ran out well deserved victors in a game played in good spirits and intensity by both teams and a fitting end to the AWD Futsal League 2 season.

YOUTH MEN
Campbelltown City Quake ran out convincing 6-nil winners against Mt Druitt Town Rangers in the Youth Men final at Valentine Sports Park.
The Quake asserted their dominance early in the contest as Marko Filipovic had a pair of good chances in the 8th minute including a mazy run which he couldn’t sort out his feet.
Campbelltown City stroked the ball around well and got their due reward in the 10th minute, as Trent Sierra finished well to open the scoring.
Next was possibly the goal of the entire day, as the ball was played back to Harry Bagot – he rocketed an effort into the roof of the cage for 2-nil.
The Quake were in full pomp when Bagot added his second minutes later to round off an impressive first half performance dominated by the 3-nil scoreline.
Quake’s hunger for goals continued in the second half as Ethan Denis got himself on the scoresheet with a precise finish. Anthony Haddad added the fifth in a five star performance for the team from the South West.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers had a few rare chances of attack highlighted by Adolph Koudakpo combining with Samuel Fell with the latter unable to steer his effort into the net.
Filipovic rounded off the complete performance with the sixth and final goal to emphatically hand Campbelltown City Quake the Youth Men Grand Final.

OPEN WOMEN
A first half brace from Claire Walsh has helped Campbelltown City Quake to the Open Womens Title with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Raiders Futsal this afternoon.
A wide open affair – it was no surprise the first chance within sixty seconds as Amanda Lauric linked with Justine Vella with a bended ball but the defense was quick to shut it down.
The Quake moved quickly up front and found space for Claire Walsh to strike home in the 3rd minute to send the Quake section of the crowd wild.
It turned to delirium ten minutes later as Walsh was once again involved as she angled a finish across Raiders custodian Mariella Hurtado to make it 2-nil.
She added to the Raiders misery a minute later when a cushioned pass found Walsh in running and she slide the ball underneath Hurtado as the Quake were in full flow.
Ruby Mosca tried to get her name on the scoresheet just before the break but her stinging shot was pushed wide by Hurtado. Quake went into the break in complete control and up 3-nil.
Raiders came out firing after the break, Hannah Voloder found herself in some good positions and tested Quake keeper Erin Brennan on several occasions. The shot stopper was equal to the task though and provided a few highlight reel saves to maintain the clean sheet.
Voloder would get her reward with four minutes remaining as she slammed home to make it 3-1. As the fouls racked up Raiders poured forward looking for a miracle comeback but Brennan stood tall and the Quake became Champions of Select Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women.

OPEN MEN
Campbelltown City Quake were crowned Select Futsal Premier League 2 champions in an instant classic contest 7-6 in the final contest of an action packed day of Futsal.
It was an engrossing first half that jammed in five goals between the heated action on the court. Mark Symington got the proceedings underway with a volleyed finish to put Campbelltown City Quake up 1-nil.
The Quake continued to push and found space behind the Raiders which led to Shaun Irwin just tapping home the second for the Campbelltown side making it 2-nil.
Raiders were stung into action after the second goal and worked the ball around well to find James Letta free on the right to claw it back to 2-1.
Finals are always about capitalising and Quake restored their two goal cushion after a botched clearance fell to the feet of Harry Bagot to sweep home.
The damage could have been worse for the Raiders if not for a super double save from custodian Bojan Radmilo from a spot kick and the follow up. Captain Slaven Ljuboja lunged well to save a certain goal.
He was rewarded immediately as the Raiders flew down the other end and Ljobja nailed it into the roof of the cage to make it 3-2 at the break.
Raiders running high from the late momentum didn’t take long to equalise as they teed up Damien Smith to smash home for 3-3.
Seven minutes into the second half – the Raiders had their first lead. After Kodai Kayashi was smothered effectively. James Letta looped a header just over the line for 4-3 in a ding dong battle.
Anything you can head I can do better. Campbelltown rattled the crossbar and Dean Lockhart was on hand to provide the finish.
Campbelltown wrest the lead out of nowhere. Anthony Haddad had nowhere to go, turned and fired it into the cage. Not to be outdone, Damien Smith played some keepy-ups before he made it 5-5 in a matter of seconds.
The lead changed more than weather in Melbourne as Campbelltown retook the lead with seven minutes with an own goal and a thunderous strike from Symington for a 7-5 game.
For the Quake though, they had conceded five fouls so were at risk and from the dot – Goran Ljuboja hammered it home for 7-6 and a grandstand finish. They had enough class though to hang on in a final for the ages.
