NAIDOC Cup – Coaches Expression of Interest

The NAIDOC Cup is an initiative of Football NSW (FNSW) and Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) that sees representative First Nations football teams from each Member Federation (FNSW & NNSWF) compete in matches over 2.5 days and also involves opportunities for players, coaches, and referees to connect with culture.

FNSW will assess Expression of Interests and be in contact with coaches in due course.

The 2025 NAIDOC Cup will be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Narrabeen, NSW from October 8th to October 10th.

To be eligible for the FNSW NAIDOC Cup team you must:

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Be a registered coach within the national PlayFootball registration system to a FNSW affiliated club
  • Hold and provide paid Working with Children Check
  • Provide Drivers licence or photo ID
  • Provide CV (doesn’t need to be football related)
  • Provide COVID-19 Certificate
  • Play By The Rules (PBTR) – Child Protection and Safeguarding (If you don’t have these, courses are accessed via www.playbytherules.net.au)

Trials will be conducted by NAIDOC Cup and TSP coaches at the mentioned locations NSW, please advise if you can attend any or all of the trial dates to help with the selection process.

When: 5th July 2025
Location: Valentine Sports Park
Time: 6:00pm -7:30pm

Coaches will not be considered for selection without completing this form.

FNSW and NNSWF will both select U14 & U16 female and male squads consisting of up to 16 players in each.

Tournament coaching expenses will be covered.

To be considered as an eligible player/coach for NAIDOC Cup, please upload one of the following:

  • A letter of “Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent” provided by an Aboriginal Community organisation. This must be stamped with the organisation’s common seal of certification.
  • A letter from an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or Aboriginal Medical Service that recognises you as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. This must contain the organisation’s letterhead.
  • A Statutory Declaration. This is a legal binding document demonstrating your child’s identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The Statutory Declaration must be accompanied by any of the following:
    • Proof that you are an Abstudy recipient;
    • A letter from an Indigenous person employed in an Indigenous identified position. For instance, an Aboriginal School Liaison Officer or Aboriginal Community Worker. This must contain the organisation’s letterhead;
    • A letter from a school that recognises you/your child as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student; or
    • A statutory declaration from a community Elder.
