The NSW Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and the NSW Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (WHS Regulation) define the obligations both employers and workers have to health and safety in the workplace.
This is Valentine Sports Park General Induction - Safety for Contractors. All Contractors must:

1. If you have tested positive, NSW Health recommends you stay home until your acute symptoms have gone, wear a mask indoors if you must leave your home and avoid large gatherings and indoor crowded places.
2. Always practice safe hygiene, including washing hands regularly with soap and water and using hand sanitiser.
Contractors who do not comply with these conditions will not be admitted or will be asked to leave to ensure the safety of all.
As a VSP Contractor you must:
General Induction - Safety for Contractors.
1. Understand that everybody has a responsibility for safety VSP has a statutory duty to ensure health, safety and welfare of all people who may be affected by work carried out by contractors on the VSP site. Contractors too are legally responsible under the WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017.
2. Meet the safety requirements in contract with VSP If you are not meeting the agreed safety requirements, VSP may stop the work or terminate the contract.
3. Carry out work in line with the agreed Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) SWMS must be followed for all work activities on the VSP site. A Copy of the SWMS should be readily accessible to you at all times.
4. Be aware of hazards and controls in the VSP operating environment Hazards specific to our working environment can include biological hazards, working at heights, isolated areas, manual handling, flammable gases and operating plant and equipment. In line with the SWMS the contractor must have all the required controls and permits. This includes Hot Works permits and Working in Confined spaces permits.
All hazards must be reported.
5. Obtain the appropriate authority prior to commencing work Prior to commencing work or attending the work site, all contractors or company representatives must report to an authorised VSP representative to be granted permission to start work. At the VSP site you will be required to fill in the contractors and visitors’ book as well situated at the Reception area or with after hours with venue staff on duty unless prior arrangements have been made.
6. Co-operate with our onsite monitoring activities. Site inspections will be carried out by VSP representatives to ensure contract workers are following the agreed SWMS.
7. Be fully inducted before starting work All contractors and their employees are to be fully inducted by undertaking a site visit with a VSP employee using the checklist prior to commencing work. Contractors are responsible for inducting sub-contractors the event that they are required on The VSP site.
8. Hand over a safe work site At the end of the project you must make sure that the site is safe for handover and all rubbish removed.
9. Co-operate with FNSW and VSP personnel FNSW and VSP employees can stop your work if they consider it to be unsafe. If this occurs the VSP representative will be informed.
10. Provide details of all relevant insurances prior to commencing work The contractor induction should be filled in and returned to the VSP representative along with copies of all relevant Workers compensation and $20 million Public Liability insurances with Football NSW Limited listed as an interested party.
11. Provide details of certifications and licences prior to commencing work relevant to the type of work being performed The contractor must provide the relevant certificate of compliance or licences relevant to the type of work undertaken, i.e. Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, Confined Spaces, etc.
VSP CONTRACTORS MUST OBSERVE AND APPLY THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES AND RULES:
1. VSP operates in a residential area and for this reason, respect the privacy and rights of the residents or clients by:
• Commencing work no sooner than 7.00am and finishing no later than 5.30pm on any day (unless by prior arrangement)
• Limiting the amount of noise and the use of power tools as much as practical
• Not exceeding the 10km speed limit. Drive slowly and carefully use caution in car park
• Parking in the appropriate places
• Maintaining a tidy workplace
• Returning all moved items to their original position
• Conversing with residents or clients in a polite and courteous manner
2. If required to manually handle heavy equipment, ensure that team or mechanical lifting is used.
3. Observe VSP No Smoking Policy on site.
4. VSP has a drug and alcohol free policy at all its sites and projects.
5. Be aware of and follow emergency evacuation procedures.
6. VSP requires that all electrical equipment is tagged appropriately. Contractors must ensure that any equipment that they use on site is also appropriately tagged.
7. Do Not operate electrical, pressure or other live systems unless authorised.
8. Use the right tools and equipment for the job and use them safely.
9. At all times, think about what you are being requested to do and about what needs to happen so that the health & safety of yourself and those around you. is preserved and protected.
10. Contractors and or their representatives must wear appropriate identification at all times when on site.
11. VSP encourages all contractors to wear personal protective equipment.
