2007 FFA National Youth Championships for Boys to Kick-Off in Coffs Harbour

The next generation of Qantas Socceroos have gathered this week in Coffs Harbour for the 2007 FFA National Youth Championships for Boys.

Teams representing their respective State, Territory or region will compete in the Under 15 and Under 14 age groups in the week long tournament.  The tournament will conclude on Saturday 14 July with all matches to be played at the BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour.

12 teams in each age group will represent Capital Football, Football Federation Northern Territory, Football Queensland (Metropolitan & Country), Football Federation South Australia, Football Federation Tasmania, Football Federation Victoria (Metropolitan & Country), Football West, Northern NSW Football and Football NSW (Metropolitan & Country).

Players at the tournament will be eligible to represent the Qantas Joeys in their qualifying campaign for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The first stage of qualifying will be held next month with further qualifying matches to be played next year if Australia progress.

Many of Australia?s best players have come through the National Youth Championship ranks, attended institutes/Academies, gone on to become professional footballers and represent the Qantas Socceroos.
