Pasfield commits to Wollongong FC

Former Sydney FC shotstopper Justin Pasfield committed himself to Wollongong FC for the up and coming NSW Premier League season in a bid to resurrect his career in cracking a spot in the A-League once more

Pasfield returned home to Australia after he spent four and a half months training in England with English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers alongside former Socceroo keeper Mark Bosnich.

?It was an amazing experience for me as training alongside ?Bozza? was brilliant.

?He helped me out a lot while I was there and I believe that he still has what it takes to play at the elite level.?

The 22-year-old, who last season played with former NSW Premier League champions Sydney United, was delighted to have returned to his home-town.

?It?s been a long time coming since I last played here but its great being back home.

?The club is heading towards the right direction both on and off the pitch so it?s exciting times here in the South Coast.?

Pasfield is hoping that his one-year deal with the club will see him leapfrog back into the shop window of various A-League clubs.

?I?ve come to the Wolves to play first team football, win matches, hopefully get into the finals series which is what the club hopes to achieve for the new season and from there on, get noticed by any of the A-League clubs.?

The club was on the hunt for a new keeper after former custodian Zlatko Josevski parted company with Wollongong.

Along with Pasfield, former Marconi Stallions young shotstopper Daniel Nash has also made the move to the South Coast club.

Pasfield re-iterated that Wollongong coach John Turner?s pre-season training thus far has been fairly strenuous to say the least.

?It?s been by far one of the toughest pre-season campaigns I?ve ever experienced in my entire career but the team is coming along nicely.

Apart from Pasfield, Turner has recruited a number of new players with former Newcastle Jets star Steve Eagleton, ex-Dandaloo ace marksman Ilija Prenzoski, former Penrith-Nepean United striker Mitchell Long and East Timorese international and skipper Alfredo Esteves some of the new names signed with the club.

Esteves, a 31-year-old central defender, was born in Lisbon, Portugal but gained dual citizenship in East Timor where he has since made four appearances for their national team.
