?Berries 4 Kids Charity? Launched
Proudly sponsored by the Bankstown Sports Club, the charity?s GOLD Sponsor, the Berries have embarked on a mission to raise much needed funds for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
“I have been involved with the Berries for a very long time, and I have experienced a lot of wonderful moments.
?But nothing compares to the launch of the “Berries 4 Kids” Charity. And with the current initiatives already planned I have no doubt whatsoever that a significant sum will be handed over at the “Berries 4 Kids” gala fundraising dinner- which might I add has had to be relocated to the bigger Bankstown Sports Club Auditorium now due to the overwhelming response and support we have received.
?The new date for this spectacular Gala fundraising dinner will be Friday 23rd May 2008″.
The Berries also unveiled the “Berries 4 Kids Charity Cup” which they hope will become an annual event- with the primary purpose being to raise money for the chosen charity- this year being the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The ?Berries 4 Kids Charity Cup? this season will be contested between the West Sydney Berries and Sydney Olympic.
?It is truly a pleasure to be invited to participate in such a wonderful community initiative.
?The Berries are to be congratulated for their efforts. Sydney Olympic is also fully committed to the cause and will play its part as well. We will be donating a percentage of our gate when we play the Berries to the charity?, said Sydney Olympic President Jim Kospetas.
Supporters and sponsors are already lining up to do their bit for the children at Westmead.
Bankstown Sports Club is already confirmed as the Charity?s GOLD Sponsor and high profile media personality John Mangos has also offered his services as the Patron of the ?Berries 4 Kids Charity?.
The Bank of Cyprus has already made a generous donation as well. And the Managing Director of Sportplus, Mr. George Aliferis, has also started the ball rolling by announcing that “for every goal scored by these two clubs in the Telechoice Premier League in 2008” Sportplus will donate $100.00 to the “Berries 4 Kids Charity?.
“As a father of two beautiful boys I thank God every day for their health and happiness. I also think we need to remember the less fortunate families however- families with kids who are fighting serious, life-threatening diseases and, IF we can help, then why not”, said Laki Konistis.
“We are truly grateful for the wonderful support we have already received, especially from Bankstown Sports and I am certain there will be many more organisations who will come forward and ensure that this worthwhile charity ends up being a success?.
