Busch brace crushes hapless Demons
Busch struck either side of halftime to give Phil Moss? men a two goal lead before Robbie Cattanach added a third in the 85? minute following selfless lead up play from man of the match Michael-Lloyd Green and Dusan Mihajlovic.
The Newcastle raised Busch got the ball rolling on 13 minutes following a foul on winger Jamie Garside.
Cattanach floated in a precision ball to the far post which Richie Williams nodded into the path of the advancing Busch who bundled the ball past on loan Sydney FC custodian Ivan Necevski.
On the half hour mark Cattanach had the chance to fire home his fourth goal in two matches after Manly were awarded a penalty following a crude foul on Ash Ryan by Matthew Pressello.
Cattanach picked his spot but was unable to beat Necevski who dived to his right and parried the spotkick to safety.
Manly wingback Joey Schirripa then almost doubled his teams advantage four minutes from halftime following a brutal rugby league style foul from Demons centre back Tyler Simpson on Garside.
The diminutive Schirripa saw his free kick cannon against the near post and bounce away to safety with Necevski well beaten.
Busch then made his way onto the scoresheet for a second time six minutes after the interval after capitalising on a loose ball from a corner.
Ash Ryan reacted first to Cattanach?s whipped in ball to the near post with his goal bound strike blocked by Demons defender Daniel Wilkinson.
Busch popped up to bury the loose ball home from the penalty spot and in the process doubled his goal tally from last season.
Cattanach, who endured a frustrating afternoon in front of goal, put the result beyond doubt with a clinical finish following a pinpoint cross from strike partner Dusan Mihajlovic five minutes from the final whistle.
Manly Coach Phil Moss was impressed with the fluid performance from his players and believes this week?s mouthwatering clash with Sutherland will provide a clear indication as to where his side is at.
?I really liked the way we brought it home in the second half,? he said.
?I stressed to the boys at halftime the importance of keeping their composure and we were unlucky not to hit at least five or six at the end.
?We are relishing playing against Sutherland next Saturday, the boys get a kick out of playing on the synthetic pitch and any team coached by Brian Brown is going to be competitive.
?Two wins from our first two games is a great platform to work with and I am looking forward to the boys ripping in this week.?
Ken Schembri offered an honest assessment when quizzed on the Demons inept showing.
?To concede two goals from set pieces is criminal and if we didn?t put (Ivan) Necevski in between the sticks it could have been anything, he justified his selection today,? he said.
?That second half was one of the worst performances I have seen from a Blacktown team in many years.
?Credit to Manly, they took their chances but we are way behind where we should be.?
