Their previous encounters however against Blacktown City proved to be very difficult assignments.
The Young NSWIS Girls started slowly and were punished by an enthusiastic and highly talented Blacktown U/14?s team.
The half time score of 2-0 flattered the NSWIS Girls and while the 2nd half was a substantial improvement in terms of intensity and quality of play, the scoreline finished 3-0.
In the second match of the evening, the Senior NSWIS team, though very depleted due to Matildas commitments of 10 of the squad, tried to continue to play positive football and for the most part succeeded.
A few elementary errors combined with some good passages from the Blacktown 15?s Boys, particularly in the 2nd half, resulted in a 5-0 loss.
Coach Alen Stajcic was still pleased with his sides progress after the games.
?These are exactly the kind of games we need.
?Where, if we get lazy or technically sloppy we get punished as is the case in International Football.
?In most cases though we tried to play positive possession football and showed that in patches we can match it with the best of the Boys teams.
?The trick now is to do it consisitently.?
In other news, Renee Rollason and Lyndsay Glohe made their debuts for the Matildas in the recent series against New Zealand.
