D?Apuzzo bounces out of older brother?s shadow
Currently performing a stellar role with the A.P.I.A. Leichhardt Tigers, the former Joey – Australia under-17 representative ? is slowly moving out of the shadow of his older brother, Adam, who played a major role for the Newcastle Jets in 2007/08.
D?Apuzzo is in fact the youngest of four children: he has an older sister and two older brothers, of which Adam is one.
The other is Anthony. He too played football at a high level and fans of Sydney Olympic may well remember the name.
So what is it about A.P.I.A. Leichhardt that attracted the youngest D?Apuzzo to the club?
?When I trialled here I liked the coach, I liked the team, the good team morale and how everyone gets along with each other,? he said.
D?Apuzzo, a graduate of the NSWIS, is no stranger to the standard of football in the TeleChoice Premier League because he has had stints already with Sydney Olympic and Blacktown City Demons in his relatively short career.
He is a confident player and like many others he has his ambitions set on joining the A-League and he is looking at a possible overseas move too in a few years.
?I think I have been doing alright and hopefully A.P.I.A. Leichhardt can start stringing some wins together,? he said.
?In the longer term, I hope to join the A-League and then a few years down the track maybe I could move overseas because it?s every player?s dream to move overseas.?
In the meantime D?Apuzzo will concentrate his time and effort on his studies ? he is currently studying Commerce/Law at the University of NSW ? and on doing his very best for the Lambert Park based side under the guidance of the coaching duo of John Romeo and Mark Brady.
