Conference League Northern Round 3 Review
In the Northern Conference, Hawkesbury City just keep on, keeping on, backing up after a mid week Tiger Turf Cup win with a 5-0 hammering of Luddenham United at Benson Lane. George was the chief destroyer for the competition leaders with four goals, including a second half hat trick, whilst Sluiter grabbed the opener on 22 minutes, in yet another high scoring win for the Hawkes.
Keeping tabs on the leaders are Balmain SC, who hung on for a thrilling 3-2 victory against Prospect United at William Lawson Reserve.
Johnny Buonavoglia took his season tally to 8 goals in just three games with goals in the 5th and 33rd minutes, sandwiching McCormack?s strike after just 25 minutes. But Prospect were not going to lie down, and Isbister scored a brace of goals either side of half time to make it an interesting and tense last few minutes.
Bathurst ?75 grabbed an all important three away points with a tough 1-0 win at Summerhayes Park against Springwood. Dowling scored the lone goal just three minutes before the half time break.
Roosters FC gave Penang a footballing lesson at Mona Park with a 7-1 victory. The goals for the home side came from Topal and Sevgin, with two apiece, and one each from Hatipoglu, Rashid and Yagci, whilst Evan replied for the visitors.
Gladesville Ryde Magic had the weekend off courtesy of the bye.
