Wollongong FC Snap up Dez Giraldi

After spending his junior development years at the Wolves, Giraldi moved to the AIS and then onto Empoli in Italy.
He returned to Australia to take up a contract with A-League team Adelaide United.
Currently completing his Asian Champions League commitments, Giraldi is expected to start training with his Wollongong FC team mates on Friday 30th May 2008.
The son of former star Wolves striker Rob Giraldi, Dez?s appearance in a Wollongong FC first team shirt will be historic as the first father/son relationship to appear in the Wollongong first team.
The departure recently of talented striker Daniel Aliffi due to family and work reasons and the run of injuries endued by the first team squad over the past few weeks has had coach John Turner searching for a replacement for Aliffi.
The club feels that if the title chase is to be maintained then another recognised striker would be required for the first team squad thus Giraldi coming into the fray.
It has been pleasing to see youngsters like Corey Gameiro getting their chance in first grade and this trend appears set to continue with the club continuing to have players from the junior set up training with the first team.
