Mariners confirm Kwasnik departure
Kwasnik leaves the Mariners as the club?s greatest all-time goal scorer, having netted 19 times in all competitive fixtures over three campaigns in the Hyundai A-League, including a club Golden Boot winning seven strikes in 2006/07.
Capped 62 times in the Hyundai A-League and a further 13 times in Pre-Season Cup matches, Kwasnik leaves the Mariners as their most experienced Hyundai A-League player and as the only Mariners marksman to have netted a goal against every Hyundai A-League opponent.
“Today we regrettably bid farewell to one of our foundation players and one of our outstanding performers from seasons one, two and three in Adam Kwasnik,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
“As we have always maintained, we will never stand in the way of the ambitions of any player wishing to further their careers or expand their horizons and although disappointed that we won?t be seeing Adam run out in a Mariners jersey this season, we are pleased that we have been able to support him to make a decision to further his career with Wellington.
“We wish Adam all the very best with the Phoenix and thank him for his exceptional service to the Mariners during his stay on the Central Coast.
“Despite Adam?s exit, myself and our coaching staff remain totally convinced that our 2008/09 line up is more than capable of emulating and surpassing the feats of last season and to that end, we expect to announce some exciting new arrivals ahead of the new campaign.”
With Kwasnik?s departure, the Mariners have now farewelled nine members of their Hyundai A-League Premiership winning line up, a list that also includes John Aloisi, Damien Brown, Alvin Ceccoli, Ian McAndrew, Damian Mori, Tom Pondeljak, Matthew Trott and Tony Vidmar.
Conversley, the Mariners have welcomed four fresh faces to their 2008/09 squad, with Adrian Caceres joining from the Melbourne Victory, youth international David D?Apuzzo signing his first profressional contract, Ahmad Elrich arriving from the Wellington Phoenix and Dylan Macallister jetting in from Norway?s FC Lyn Oslo.
