Soane was the chief destroyer for the Wanderers with a hatrick, scoring in the 29th, 47th, and 67th minutes. Miranda was the other goal getter for the home side, scoring in the first minute of the second half, only a couple of minutes before Farac?s consolation goal for the Scorpions.
Spirit FC kept up their unbeaten run at the top of the division, beating Stanmore Hawks 3-1 in the match of the round at Christie Park. It was a battle royale, with the league?s top two marksmen deciding the outcome. Robust striker Papanicolaou put Spirit in front with a goal after 53 minutes, but Chavez scored goal number 14 for 2008 with an equaliser just nine minutes later.
Papanicolaou had the last laugh, though, scoring two goals in the 82nd and 84th minutes to give his side a valuable victory, and in the process putting him on 12 goals for the year to date, and second in the race for the golden boot.
Inter Lions remained in second spot, exacting revenge on a recent mid week loss to Dulwich Hill by beating them 2-1 at Concord Oval. Lachlan Wright put the Lions in front in just the second minute of play, but Inter old boy Paradisis equalized only ten minutes later.
Inter striker Paul Paras scored his 7th goal of the season on 41 minutes to give the Lions the three points.
Blacktown Spartans took advantage of Stanmore?s slip up at Christie Park, joining them on 23 points in equal 3rd spot with a 2-1 away win at UNSW. An own goal after 6 minutes put the Spartans ahead, and Troy McColl made it two with his 55th minute strike.
Groth pulled a goal back for UNSW with just four minutes remaining, but Blacktown held on for an important victory.
At Second Ponds Oval, Hills Brumbies grabbed only their third win of the season when they beat Hurstville ZFC 2-1. Pintabona put the Brumbies ahead on 22 minutes, and Dimovski doubled their lead three minutes into the second half.
Kraljevic pulled a goal back for Hurstville in the 75th minute, but it wasn?t enough to avoid defeat.
Mounties FC grabbed an important away victory over last placed Hurstville City Minotaurs, winning 1-0 at Rockdale Ilinden Centre. Noro was the match winner for the Mounties, scoring in the 70 minute to send them up to 7th on the ladder on 16 points.
