State, Robertson, Bill Cullinan and Sydney Cups hit fever pitch at VSP

The day was chockfull of excitement and drama with extra time, penalties and goals galore.
The All Age Ladies game was a very ?willing? contest between two great sides which saw Brookvale eventual winners over Dunbar Rovers 2-1 and the very young Tennyson Tigers Club were victorious in their first ever State Cup appearance by beating a very good Glenwood Redbacks side in the 12 ladies.
We were also very fortunate to be witness to a magnificent header by Alex Tobin which took his Castle Hill Over 35 team into overtime which then enabled them to win the match 3-2 in extra time against an extremely well organised Engadine Eagles team. Then there was the 18?s match which was played before a very enthusiastic and large crowd between Sylvania Hts and Wenty Waratahs with Wenty finally winning 2-1 in what was probably the match of the day.
Not to be outdone, on Field 3 we had over 400 spectators watching the 16 Ladies Colo and Miranda Magpies spectacle which saw the Magpies triumph 3-0 in front of an enormous crowd of supporters. As well as all this excitement, we then watched the Robertson Cup 21 final and when Menai Hawks lost two players with red cards in the 26th and 27th minutes all look lost for their chances against St Patricks but incredibly they marshaled their forces and came out and played magnificent football in the second half to defeat St Pats 1-0.
Sydney Juniors were the only club with two teams represented and came away victors in both, winning the 16 State Cup and the 11 Sydney Cup. Sutherland and Southern Districts shared the bragging rights over all with both Associations claiming four of the sixteen titles available on the day.
The Presentations on the day were expertly handled by The Chairman of Football NSW, Dr Jim Forrest, Board Member Mr Frank Wilson and Mr Rale Rasic and all players were very excited with the attendance of Sydney FC Players Michael Enfield, Brendon Santalab and Ryan Walsh together with Brendan Renaud. We thank Sydney FC, Mr Rasic, Mr Wilson and Mr Forrest for their assistance.
