It took a special long-range goal from former Wolves player David Huxley in the first half that all but secured the Sharks? first Premiership victory with the last one coming seventeen years ago.
It was a nervy second half for the Sharks though as Mitchell Long plugged one back however Brian Brown?s men withstood the pressure from the visitors which saw them lift the Premiership trophy at the conclusion of the match.
It was high drama elsewhere as Sydney Olympic claimed third position after a scoreless 0-0 draw against Sydney United.
Ivan Petkovic?s men were left smiling in the end as they picked up the fifth and final spot in the TeleChoice Premier League finals series starting in two weeks time.
The game was marred however to the serious knee injury to Olympic club captain Peter Zorbas in the first half.
Manly United finished in fourth spot as they drew 2-2 to the Macarthur Rams.
A.P.I.A.-Leichhardt Tigers were a whisker a way from a top five spot however their 4-3 victory to Penrith Nepean United was not enough to grant John Romeo?s men a place in the finals series.
One pleasing aspect for the Tigers though was the four goal haul to gun striker Robbie Younis which cemented his name as the top scorer of the TeleChoice Premier League with 21 goals for the year.
In the other matches the West Sydney Berries defeated the Blacktown City Demons 4-1 while Bankstown City Lions ran 3-1 victors over the Marconi Stallions.
