Robbie Younis takes out the 2008 Andreas Golden Boot Award
The talented attacker, who recently signed a two-year deal with A-League side Adelaide United, hit 21 goals in 21 matches.
Speaking exclusively to Football NSW, Younis was delighted to have received such an accolade that has etched his name in the history books amongst a number of other prolific marksmen who were part of the famous NSW Premier League.
?It?s a very exciting time for me but winning the Andreas Golden Boot was something that I set out to do at the start of the TeleChoice Premier League season.
?Unfortunately one other goal I set out to do was to play finals football and this was dashed over the weekend.
?I know I worked really hard over the course of the year and wanted to achieve a lot especially in the goal scoring department.
? I know I could not have achieved this without the assistance of my fellow team-mates from the Tigers as they provided me with some great service and for that I thank them.?
Younis claimed the prestigious award in the final round of the TeleChoice Premier League when he managed to score all four goals in the Tigers? 4-3 victory over Penrith Nepean United at CUA Stadium on Sunday.
?It was a match I will never forget and a special one also because it was my final game for the Tigers who have been great to me.
?It was very special for me also as I did it in front of my family and friends so it was overall a perfect day for me.?
Younis pipped Sutherland Sharks? big striker Brad Boardman for the Boot as the Shire attacker ended up with 19 goals for the season.
Departing Sydney for Adelaide on Wednesday, Younis made it quite clear that he won?t just make up the numbers when he joins his new squad Adelaide United and coach Auerlio Vidmar.
?It?s a dream come true but to be able to play in the A-League is something that I will certainly take with both hands.
?I know I am not going to Adelaide to fill the roster up as I want to do what I can in cementing a starting position in the squad.?
