Rockdale City Suns demolish the Rage

FNSWlogoportcol

Rockdale were in control throughout the encounter, Nastuski and Dincer linked-up well early on to put the Rage under pressure. A good quality passing game down the left and right flanks early on nearly paid dividends in the 7? minute when P. Apolevski struck a shot from just outside the 18-yard box only for it to just sail wide of goal.
Rockdale took the game to the Rage, Zairokski and T. Atsas were dominating in the midfield as Granville struggled to hold possession. This proved costly in the 17? minute when a well-placed cross from right midfielder Apolevski found Dincer lurking in the middle; he did not need a second invitation and he nicely slotted home the first goal of the night.
Granville struggled to build momentum in the game from that point, until a shot at goal from Christian Bottalico in the 24? minute just missed to the left. However, chances went begging again shortly after. In the 32? a sensational cross from the right side was headed in well again by Bottalico, though the effort was straight at the goalkeeper.
Rockdale were the better side and made Granville pay for their missed opportunities in the 34? minute when Dincer positioned  in a pin-point cross in for G. Trposki, who slotted it nicely past J. Holmes in style giving his side a crucial 2-0 lead at half-time.
In the second-half Granville tried to gain momentum by attacking down the middle of the park, however Rockdale were dominating through Zaikovski, Nastuski, and Apolevski, proving too much for the Rage defence.
Granville?s efforts were on notice as F. Umlil and Bottalico tried to create some last ditch chances, however Rockdale only inflicted more damage in the 89? minute when a sensational shot from P. Zaikovski from 20-metres found the top corner to give his side a solid 3-0 win and a place in the next round of finals football.
Rockdale playmaker Danny Wilson spoke after the game praising his side?s performance and a great effort all round:
?It was a sensational game tonight for the team, I thought we played a good quality passing game, controlled the game throughout, it was a brave effort and it has given us great momentum for next weeks game.
?I think the most important thing about this win is that we played good football, we have had an inconsistent season, and we want to change all that in this finals period. We?re confident as a team with a great coaching team and club that we can improve our chances by playing the way we played tonight,? concluded Wilson.
