2008 MBF Champion of Champions a Success

Seen as one of the biggest spectacles Football NSW runs, 36 teams competed in 18 matches which kicked off at 8am with the Under 10?s match which Smithfield RSL ran out 3-1 winners over South Coast side Figtree while the final game kicked off at 5.30pm for the day?s major match which saw the Dunbar Rovers seal a 1-0 victory over Budgewoi with the goal coming in via the Golden Goal rule.
One of the matches of the day was seen in the Over 35?s as a number of former NSL and ex-Socceroos stars took on each other in a clash which saw 12 goals.
Castle Hill led by Alex Tobin and notable players such as Damon Langan and Jason Connolly took on West Ryde Rovers who had the likes of Francis Awaratife, Kimon Taliadoros, Chris Kalanztis and Paul Okon in their roster.
With both ex-Socceroos skippers going toe to toe, it was Castle Hill who reigned supreme and defeated the Rovers 7-5 in an emphatic match which was enjoyed by the hundreds of spectators that came down to witness this thrilling game.
Sydney FC stars Jacob Timpano, Iain Fyfe, Mike Enfield and Central Coast Mariners stars Chris Tadrosse, Matthew Nash and Ahmad Elrich were also present handing out medals to all participants on the day.
