Futsal International Friendly Series

International Futsal was back in NSW with the NSW Men?s Lightning side started its preparation for the 2009 Futsal Nationals to be held in Canberra by taking on FC Doctor, a Touring Russian squad.
NSW Lighting started well and applied a lot of pressure to the Russians and NSW took the lead in the opening minutes. The visitors replied on six minutes. The Russian squad passed the ball nicely around the court; however the speed of the NSW side was evident with seven unanswered goals. At half time it was a commanding eight ? one lead to NSW Lightning.
The second half was a much closer affair with the Russians again holding the ball well and committing the NSW side which saw NSW in foul trouble early on. NSW made it nine-one in the 32nd minute after some nice passing across mid court. The Russians replied minutes later to make it nine-two. The youthful NSW side took advantage of the tiring Russians with two late goals to make the final score twelve-two to the NSW Lighting side.
