Robbie Stanton takes charge of the Sutherland Sharks for 2009

The former NSL defender, who won titles as a player with the Wollongong Wolves in 2000/2001, will be back coaching the club after he took over Ron Corry in the latter part of 2007.
2008 saw Stanton at Penrith Nepean United where he coached the U20?s side and also assisted first team coach Abbas Saad as well as being involved in the Australian Deaf team.
Sutherland Sharks? Club President Paul Smith was delighted to have acquired the services of Stanton for 2009.
?Robbie did a good job last time he was here so it?s great to have him back at the club.
?He kept himself very busy in 2008 being involved with the Australian Deaf side as well as Penrith Nepean United which did him a load of good in gaining more experience.?
Stanton will have big shoes to fill after he replaced 2008 TeleChoice Premier League Coach of the Year Brian Brown at the helm.
The club?s recruitment drive has been in overload of late after the Sharks agreed to terms with former Wollongong FC keeper Justin Pasfield and Chris Price.
The former Penrith Nepean United duo of Nathan Ralph and Panny Nikas have also been brought to the club.
The Sharks are still looking for a couple more players to boost their squad but have retained the bulk of their stars that took part in the 2008 season.
2008 TeleChoice Premier League Gold Medal winner Brendan Gan at this stage looks unlikely to sign with the squad.
The talented 20-year-old has made a huge name for himself playing with A-League side Sydney FC?s youth squad and more recently notched up his debut goal in the senior squad?s 2-1 victory over the Newcastle Jets.
Shane Lyons and Phillip Zabaks have parted company with Sutherland while experienced midfielder David Huxley has decided to retire from the game.
The club is still talking to Scottish import Neil Jablonski about playing for the Sharks in 2009.
