Julie Murray honoured

The former Matildas captain and FIFA Women?s Ambassador has been a pioneer for women?s football throughout her illustrious career.
After beginning her international career as a 15-year-old in 1986, Julie was a fixture in the Matildas for 15 years where she went on to represent Australia 67 times scoring 19 goals.
During her time as a Matildas player, Murray was involved in two World Cups as well as representing her country at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Murray also was the first Australian female footballer to play professionally overseas with Danish First Division side Fortuna Hjorring in 1990.
Soon after her time in Europe in 2001, Murray was then drafted into the WUSA Professional Women?s Soccer League in the United States where she won a Championship in her debut season with the Bay Area Cyberrarys.
Football NSW would like to acknowledge Julie Murray and her tremendous efforts in the promotion of the women?s game in this country.
