Sydney Tigers snare more star signings in Arrive Alive NSW Women’s Super League

Not content with having already snared the signature of former NWS Koalas Captain Alicia Cavanagh late last year Tigers Coach, Tarek Madani, has now announced that Sydney FC W League Captain, Lisa Gilbert and Central Coast Mariners W League stars Jodie Bain and Jenna Kingsley will be joining the Tigers for their debut campaign.
Coach Madani has also managed to recruit Daniela Pagano and Frances Dimino (Marconi Stallions), Trudy Bartlett, Antionette Olive and Jessica Abraham (Inter Lions), Kylie Meehan (Southern NSW FC) and Chanel Turner (Penrith Nepean United).
Both Lisa Gilbert and Jodie Bain expressed excitement about the coming season, taking particular interest in their opportunity to mentor the younger players moving up the ranks at The Tigers. Both girls were attracted to the chance of getting in at ?grassroots level? and imparting their vast experience to the next generation, leading to more girls playing at a higher level.
Gilbert and Bain will be assisting with the proposed Sydney Tigers Academy as well as the coaching of the Reserve Grade squad.
Lisa and Jodie were quite forthright in their response to people who?ve questioned their motives in joining a Super League club which is about to start its first season in the competition.
Lisa said ?If I were 10 years younger people may well question why I?m here but my priorities are different nowadays. I want to give something back to the game. My motivation is to help get Sydney Tigers into the Arrive Alive Women?s Premier League within two seasons.? Jodie agreed, adding ?We want to broaden the club?s horizons.?
Both girls spoke about attending a boxercise and beach session for the club?s teams last weekend where they were introduced to the junior players in the Sydney Tigers family. Lisa Gilbert commented ?There was a lot of excitement, the girls gave me a round of applause and asked so many questions. Obviously the W League has already had a positive effect on the profile of women?s football?.
The Sydney Tigers will certainly prove to be one of the Arrive Alive Women?s Super League?s glamour sides with their all star line up. Their first game of the season, a local derby with arch rivals Inter Lions, is much anticipated by all women?s football fans.
