Never-say-die Warriors charge to the Grand Final

The Dural Warriors fairy tale finals series continued tonight as they shot down competition leaders the Parramatta Blueberries 3-1 at the Menai Indoor Sports centre. The Warriors snuck into the finals series in fifth spot and now face Breakers FC in next weeks grand final.
Dural were fast out of the blocks from the opening whistle with Jacquie Frier twice going close in the opening exchanges.
Durals quick start had Parramatta pinned back as they struggled to get their game going and get players forward. Najla Eid eventually tested the Dural keeper out with a long range effort.
Dural nearly took the lead when Rebecca Brown combined with Jacquie Frier but Parramatta keeper Claire Cherrington came out smartly to bravely block Browns shot.
Parramatta however weathered the early onslaught and were seeing more ball possession and eventually took the lead.  A long throw down court from Cherrington found Melissa Parlato in front of goal who cleverly knicked her header over the keeper to give the Blueberries a 1-0 lead.
Parramatta went on the offensive after half time with Fatma Agar going close after Ashley Hume intercepted a pass mid-court. On two separate occasions Melissah Parlato was denied by Dural keeper Rachel Hui.
Dural levelled the game when Jacquie Frier stabbed a shot through a crowded defence and Sarah Codrington was on the spot to cleverly tip it into the goal.
Deadlocked at 1-1 the game swept from end to end as both sides keenly contested for the ball and went in search of a goal.
The next goal came from Dural when Caitlyn Mahony slipped her defensive markers down the right side and placed the ball past the advancing keeper to make it 2-1.
Parramatta went in search of an equaliser and mounted ever increasing pressure on the Dural defence. Durals Kristie Liddle made a great block to deny Melissiah Parlato and keeper Rachel Hui was increasingly busy in goal.
Late in the game Dural sealed the win when they fast counter attacked with two players on one defender. Claire Cherrington blocked the first attempt but the loose ball fell to Sarah Codrington who slid the ball into an open net to give Dural a memorable 3-1 win.
A disappointing end for table topping Parramatta as another top side bow out of the finals but Dural are in a rich vein of form at the moment are hard to beat and deserved their victory to set up a great confrontation with Breakers FC on Saturday.
