The Southern NSW FC boys just could not hold on after taking the lead in both games. It was a great display by Southern NSW FC boys who played some very good football shocking Bankstown who expected a much easier day. Indeed Neil Wade?s U/11?s competed extremely well taking it to their opponent only to concede a soft penalty to go down 2-1 whilst Craig Ash?s U/12?s played exceptionally well in the first half outplaying Bankstown only to drop off the pace in the second half against their more classy opponent finishing 3-1 down.

Sunday 8th March 2009 saw Southern NSW Football team play Bankstown at Lockwood Park. Southern were under attack early on however  through a good team defensive effort saw off Bankstowns attacking threat.
From this good defence led to a clearing ball from the back to enable Jake Moffat a clear run down the right side. Jake played a great a ball through to striker Mitchell Folley who blasted it past the Bankstown goalkeeper.
This was great start and the first goal for the U/11 team this season. Confidence lifted Southern began to pressure Bankstown  stringing together a number of raids creating a number of chances were unlucky too score again from a Connor MacQueen shot which was set up by Lachlan Crook. Just before half time Bankstown equalised when Southern failed to clear the ball but then a ricochet found the net.
The second half saw the ball go from end to end  with Southern now under increasing pressure as Bankstown lifted their intensity. Defending doggedly the Southern boys saw the need for some hard tackles which lead to a penalty. Rydian Taylor picked the right way but the ball still went in. Southern continued to improve with a strong performance with the penalty the only goal scored in the second half for 2-1 loss. It was a great team effort by all the boys well done!

The U/12 Southern NSW Football team had their first away game of the season and traveled to Bankstown. With an impressive start to the game  the under twelve team began by dominating the play and with some excellent passing, attacking and defending.
This was a much better start and the under twelve?s dominated play with a good brand of football creating several serious attempts at goal.
After about fifteen minutes into the game Mitchell Burke placed a great kick into the net and the under twelves have started their season.Zac Hawker had an excellent game in defense with Ben Brooker, Gareth Watkins  and Blake Wade making Bankstown take notice. Alex Boardman, Rhyley Fernander and Josh Day played well in the midfield.Jackson Jones was kept busy all game and certainly made an impact. At the half time break the twleves led 1-0, a great result and very deserved.
Unfortunately early in the second half  Bankstown began to take control and a free kick saw the equalizer scored. The Southern players continued to press up the field but Bankstown got another two shots into the net to make the final score 3-1.An excellent game, which proved that when we play well we are competitive, again fitness needs to be monitored and a continual pace set  which will allow us to keep control of the game.Well done team it was an excellent effort.
