Srecko Mitrovic hungry for success with the Sutherland Sharks

The round 6 clash saw the Sharks defeat the Stallions 2-0 at Marconi Stadium with Mitrovic scoring the opening goal of the match with a stunning drive from outside the box.
?I was delighted to be back playing football again,? echoed Mitrovic after his TeleChoice Premier League debut.
?I went through a tough six months during my latter time in Romania so it was a huge relief that things went well for me in my first match.?
The Bosnian born star was equally delighted with his goal that set his name in lights especially with the Sharks faithful.
?It was a great feeling scoring on my debut as I wanted to do the best that I could for the club who has given me a chance to show my worth.
?To win in Marconi was also great as it has always been known as a hard place to achieve positive results.?
Asked what he thought of the standard in the TeleChoice Premier League after playing in leagues spanning from Italy to Romania, Mitrovic stated to Football NSW?s official website.
?To be honest I wasn?t expecting a lot but after my first match I was very impressed.
?I believe Sutherland are a wonderful team and play good football but was also impressed with the way Marconi played. I will obviously learn more on how the competition is going and its standard in weeks to come but I really believe that the TeleChoice Premier League is of good standard.?
Mitrovic has had a colourful career thus far as he explained to Football NSW.
His name was unheard of after his exit to Europe in 2001 where he played for the then Italian Serie A side Piacenza which also had a former TeleChoice Premier League star in ex-Bankstown City Lions dead ball specialist Daniel Severino in its roster.
?After my time at the Stallions, an agent took me to Italy and oraganised a trial with Piacenza who were looking for players in their reserve grade squad.
?I impressed them and won myself a Primavera (reserve grade) contract for two years.
?I played with Daniel for a year before he left but it was good having someone from the same country.
?After that, Ascoli who were in the Italian Serie B came in and recruited me on a four-year deal where I played first team football.?
It was to be the highlight of Mitrovic?s career playing in the tough tactical country of Italy but it was his last season at Ascoli that pushed the talented midfielder backward after succumbing to an injury which brought him back to Australia.
?I came back to Australia for rehabilitation in 2006 and it was then I ended my ties with Ascoli.
?I had a couple of memorable years in Italy and I know I will never forget them
?Someday I hope to be back there.?
Soon after his rehabilitation process concluded, Mitrovic sort an overseas move again and was snapped up by Romanian First Division outfit Politechnica Lasi on a two-year deal.
The Red Star Belgrade fan was happy with his progress in Romania but his last six months were ?a living hell?.
?I started off very happy at the club and got to play against some huge teams and scored a couple of important goals for them.
?But my last six months were tough as the coach had different views on me and decided to not use me which was tough to take after playing regular first team football.?
It was this tough period that brought the holding midfielder back home where, on the guide of his agent, he signed for the Sutherland Sharks.
?I was told by my agent that Sutherland were the best club to go to in the TeleChoice Premier League to kick start my career again.
?It is run very professionally and the team itself is very good with a number of talented players in the squad.
?I want to thank the board at the club as well as our coach Robbie Stanton for helping me too. I know they had a good season last year but I believe they can do just as good this year.
?I came back to play matches with Sutherland in the hope of attracting A-League interest as I have heard so many great things about it.
?For now though I am concentrating on playing well for my new club.?
