The Youth League Report (Premier Youth League) Round 7
Overview
Manly United continue to impress as they grabbed eleven points from their home games against Penrith Nepean United while Sydney United would have been very pleased with the eleven points they earned at home to Sydney Tigers.
West Sydney Berries had another good day when they took nine points from their visit to Sutherland Sharks and Bonnyrigg White Eagles bagged eight points from their matches at Bankstown City.
Blacktown City Demons earned seven points from the four matches played at Sydney Olympic while the four Saturday matches between Wollongong FC and Marconi Stallions were postponed with the Wolves taking all three points from the match played on Sunday.
Grade 13
The minor changes to the appearance of the table this week were mainly due to the fact that only four matches were played.
West Sydney Berries have stretched their competition lead to seven points with a 1-0 result over ninth placed Sutherland Sharks while Marconi Stallions have retained second spot after their match with sixth placed Wollongong FC was postponed.
Blacktown City Demons remained at third despite their match against eighth placed Sydney Olympic being postpone due to state team commitments by players from both teams and Manly United stayed at fourth following their scoreless draw with twelfth placed Penrith Nepean United.
Sydney United replaced the Wolves at fifth when they registered a scoreless draw with tenth placed Sydney Tigers while Bankstown City and Bonnyrigg White Eagles remained at eleventh and seventh respectively when their clash ended at 1-1.
Grade 14
At the end of the day the top five had the same look as it did before a ball was kicked but there were lots of changes in the middle and lower reaches of the table.
Penrith Nepean United saw their competition lead cut back to a single point when they were held to a scoreless draw by fourth placed Manly United while Blacktown City Demons remained at second thanks to their 2-1 win over Sydney Olympic who have slipped back from eighth to ninth.
Marconi Stallions held onto third place despite the postponement of their match against eleventh placed Wollongong FC who had picked up a point from their 1-1 midweek draw with the sixth placed NSWIS Girls and Sydney United are still fifth following their 2-1 success over Sydney Tigers who dropped two places to eighth.
Sutherland Sharks leapt from tenth to seventh with a 3-0 success over West Sydney Berries who have gone back one place to tenth while Bonnyrigg White Eagles remained at the foot of the table despite recording their first win for the season, a 2-1 result over twelfth placed Bankstown City.
Grade 15
There were no changes in the order of the teams at the top end of the table but there were plenty to be found in the places below fifth.
Blacktown City Demons had their lead at the top of the table reduce to one point after they tasted defeat for the first time when they went down 2-1 to Sydney Olympic who have jumped from twelfth to tenth while Manly United remained in second spot when they posted a 1-0 win over Penrith Nepean United who have fallen back one place to eighth.
Marconi Stallions have remained at third despite their match against fourth placed Wollongong FC being postponed. The Wolves had picked up three points when they were 5-1 midweek winners over the thirteenth placed NSWIS Girls and Sydney United are still fifth thanks to their 3-0 victory over Sydney Tigers who have tumbled from ninth to twelfth.
Bankstown City climbed two places to ninth when they registered a 6-5 win in an absolute thriller against Bonnyrigg White Eagles who have fallen back three places to eleventh and West Sydney Berries moved up three places to seventh after they posted a 1-0 scoreline over sixth placed Sutherland Sharks.
Grade 16
This week produced a large number of changes in the pecking order as the competition tries to sort itself out and that is an indication of the overall strength of the teams in this age group.
Manly United shot up two places to take over the competition lead by one point when they were 2-0 winners over Penrith Nepean United who have dropped a place to eighth while West Sydney Berries fell back to second after they were held to a scoreless draw by twelfth placed Sutherland Sharks.
Wollongong FC dropped back to third due to the postponement of their clash with Marconi Stallions who have gone back two places to seventh and Blacktown City Demons remained at fourth when they registered a 1-0 success over tenth placed Sydney Olympic.
Bonnyrigg White Eagles soared from eighth to fifth with a 1-0 win over ninth placed Bankstown City while Sydney United have held onto sixth spot after they were held to a 1-1 draw by eleventh placed Sydney Tigers.
Grade 18
The top five has stayed the same this week but there were a number of changes in the places below that as the competition clicks into full stride.
Wollongong FC extended their competition lead to four points when they were 3-0 winners over Marconi Stallions who have slipped back one place to third while West Sydney Berries moved into second place when they posted a 5-1 win over Sutherland Sharks who have fallen back two places to thirteenth.
Blacktown City Demons remained at fourth when they battled out a 1-1 draw with Sydney Olympic who have jumped from tenth to sixth after they had picked up three midweek points with a 2-1 victory over NSWIS Boys who are now tenth.
Manly United are still placed fifth following their 5-1 success over Penrith Nepean United who have dropped one place to seventh while Bankstown City jumped one place to eighth when they drew 1-1 with Bonnyrigg White Eagles who have also moved up one spot to eleventh. Sydney United have remained at the foot of the table even though they were 2-1 winners over Sydney Tigers who have fallen back two places to ninth.
