Super League Round 10 Preview

Co-leaders Parramatta crashed to a second defeat of the year against St George last week, and Uni also bombed out of the top-five after going down to the red-hot Tigers, so both will be inspired to return to the winners circle on Friday night. The Eagles won their first three Super League encounters against Uni, with ?the students? claiming the most recent fixture, 2-1 last August.
Fraser Park FC hosts Bossy Liverpool in a bottom of the table scrap at Fraser Park on Saturday night (7.30pm kick-off). One point separates the two strugglers after they both claimed draws last weekend and a win would prove vital to both causes. Over eight league meetings, Bossy have won four times and only lost once, with three draws showing a closeness between the two teams. Fraser Park?s sole victory came via a 2-1 win way back in July 2005, and they have not yet beaten Liverpool at Fraser Park.
On Sunday afternoon, Spirit FC entertains Central Coast Lightning at Christie Park (3pm kick-off). The Lightning skipped over Spirit into the top-five after the league newcomers slumped to their second successive defeat last weekend. But the Spirit players have shown plenty of resolve to overcome their trials in the past and will be more than a handful for the out-of-towners this weekend. Central Coast hasn?t yet won in Sydney this season, which will provide plenty of motivation in itself.
Mount Druitt Town Rangers face an in-form Northern Tigers at Popondetta Park on Sunday afternoon (3pm). Mount Druitt is hoping to break a three-game losing streak against a Tigers outfit that has won five on the trot. To add spice, two Rangers players are in the league?s top-five goalscorers (Troy Eedy with nine and Michael Haberman with five, chasing Saints striker Juan Carlos Chavez, who has 11), and they play St George in a midweek catch-up match. Historically, the Tigers can claim two wins and a draw from four meetings with Mount Druitt.
St George Saints meet Granville Rage at St George Stadium on Sunday afternoon (3pm). The Saints rescued their season with an outstanding 3-1 win over powerhouse Parramatta last weekend, while a 10-man Granville drew with Fraser Park. It?s St George who has the runs on the board, beating Granville in three games and drawing twice in six Super League encounters. But it?s also the last away game for the Rage before they play nine games at Garside, so any points would be a bonus. The Saints play at Mount Druitt midweek as well.
Rockdale City Suns take on Macarthur Rams in a top-of-the-table treat at the Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon (3pm). The Suns head the leaderboard for the first time this season after beating Spirit FC last week, while the Rams sit one point behind them after being held to a draw by Liverpool. Interestingly, Macarthur are yet to lose away from home this year and Rockdale are yet to lose at Ilinden, setting up a mouth-watering match this Sunday. The sides share a win each and a draw in three league meetings.
