Arrive Alive Women?s Super League Round 8 Review
The following games were all washed out; postponed until a date to be fixed.
Blacktown Spartans v Gladesville Ravens
PCYC Lady Hawks v Southern NSW FC
Inter Lions v Central Coast Lightning
Northern Tigers v St George FC
This left only one game to be contested; that between the two sides equal in second place on the ladder the Western NSW Panthers FC and Sydney Tigers.
The match proved to be a tough match with both sides giving plenty. The two teams came into the match suffering something of a form slide so both were keen to grab the three competition points. After a scoreless first half the visitors took the lead in the 50th minute when they were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Jenna Kingsley.
The Panthers aren?t a side that give in easily though and they kept on coming. In the 70th minute they were awarded a penalty of their own. Up stepped Olivia Bird to slot away the equaliser for the home side and set the match up for an exciting final 20 minutes. However, though the two teams tried hard to break the deadlock, there was no addition to the score.
A point each after a hard fought game is some consolation. A number of sides are baying at their heels though and both teams will need to find that winning formula again soon if they hope to maintain their standings on the competition table.
Western NSW Panthers FC 1 (O.Bird 70m)
Sydney Tigers 1 (J.Kingsley 50m)
I think if all the fans of the Arrive Alive Women?s Super League get together this week to pray for some fine weather it could be helpful. A couple of sides already have multiple catch up games and this only places an extra strain on players and resources. Hopefully all will return to normal next Sunday so that we can see plenty of football action from the Arrive Alive Women?s Super League stars.
