Monday looms as D-Day for Frank Broughton Cup semi-finalists

The standard of football has only been matched by the weather after two glorious days of winter sunshine after so much recent rain. The fields are in surprisingly good condition and a credit to the ground staff.
The first three games, all on Field 1 will decide the winners of three of the four groups with many scenarios possible.
On Field 1 at 9.00am Group D will be decided when Central Coast Association face up to tournament favourites, Sutherland Association with both teams locked on six points and the winner will progress to the semi finals. Central Coast however can proceed with a draw as they have a one goal difference advantage. Both teams are undefeated at this stage.
Again on Field 1 at 10.15am Group C will also be decided when Granville Association (on 6 points) will be challenged by Macarthur Association (on 4 points) where the winner will make the next stage, but again, Granville can make it with a draw. Both of these teams are also undefeated at this point.
Field 1 again will be the centre of attention at 11.30am when Southern Districts Association meet Eastern Suburbs Association for a semi final position. Both teams are undefeated and on seven points and the winner will progress while Eastern Suburbs may move on with just a draw, however Eastern Suburbs cannot sit back and play for the draw, as Manly-Warringah Association (on four points) can still sneak in to the semis ahead of Southern Districts and Eastern Suburbs with a win by at least five goals over Canterbury.
In Group B the Ku Ring Gai Association are handily placed on six points, three clear of Gladesville-Hornsby Association. Ku Ring Gai face St George who could surprise them which could open the door for Gladesville-Hornsby who face Southern Branch. Both these games will be played at 12.45pm.
When all the above is sorted, the semi finals will be played at 2.30pm and the final at 4.00pm with presentations following the final to cap off a terrific weekend of football at a wonderful venue under beautiful weather before appreciative and large crowds of family, friends and supporters.
