Deaf Football Australia combines with Football NSW for Under 16 State Titles

DFA have now incorporated the NSW Under 16 state titles into there development program. Essentially this tournament will be used as a National Camp and the competitive matches will allow those U/21 players around Australia to show the coaching staff where they are at in there development.
The tournament gives national coach Abbas Saad and his assistant Robert Stanton the opportunity to look at new players as well as work with existing players who are currently in the senior team.
DFA see the tournament as a high level tournament that will give deaf players the opportunity to experience intense competition.
DFA Secretary stated due to the lack of funding to the Deaf National Football teams, this competition is affordable and gives the national coaches the opportunity to look at what players they have to work with in preparation for overseas tournament which require the national team to qualify for the Olympics and World Cups.
After the poor results of the World Cup in Greece last year, DFA approached Abbas Saad and Robert Stanton to take the national team to Taipei in September last year. With 4 days preparation, Abbas and Robert achieved fantastic results on and off the field with a very under strength side.
Abbas Saad stated that DFA are 75% there in player personal. He sees the U/16 tournament as a development path to identifying players for the senior national team.
Saad is confident his team will be competitive hoping there will be no scores that are blow outs, knowing that the current lot of players are all players playing club football within the local districts, in various divisions.
