Day 3 at Football NSW State Titles sees the cream rising to the top

acto

At Bathurst, where I finally arrived today, the weather was great early, but dropped ten degrees in 30 minutes about 4pm and of course, it was all my fault.  Metro West have shown that great form and consistency will bring the desired result and they are now on 18 points, 4 clear of Metro South and Metro East and they will both be keeping Metro West honest all the way.  The highlight of a very bleak late afternoon was the boys from Country South notching their first win of the tournament 2-1 over a very determined Country Women?s U/14 team.
The weather improved somewhat at Wagga Wagga for the 14?s titles, but the rain forced the reallocation of fields on Day 3, but thank goodness this is such a great venue with many fields to choose from.  Metropolitan Far South are flying high on 15 points but only 3 points clear of Metro North and if all results go the way of the form guide, their clash on the final day could well decide the outcome of this age group.
The remarkable improvement being showed by the Country 13 boys against this very tough opposition culminated today in a great win 4-2 over Country Southern making our decision to include these boys for experience a very wise one indeed.
At a bleak and wintry Orange, the 15?s titles continued and Metro East have risen to the top with 16 points which puts them 4 points clear of Metro South on 12 points and Metro Far South and Metro West are on 11 points so there will be plenty to play for over the next couple of days.  I should make it to Orange by Friday so I hope the weather improves by then.
Finally, the 16?s titles are dodging the kangaroos on the fields and enjoying terrific weather.  Today?s matches has seen Metro Far North on 18 points creep 2 points clear of Metro Far South who were held to a thrilling 1-1 draw with Metro South and this has thrown the competition wide open as we head into Day 4 of these thrilling titles.
Two more rounds on Day 4 and then one final round on Friday will bring an end to the titles of 2009, however there will be much excitement, heartache, thrills and spills before that happens.
