Day 4 State Titles results set up a fantastic Friday

In probably the best weather conditions of the week, I was at Bathurst for the day and watched some magnificent football from a truly extremely talented group of Under 11 players from all teams.  Metro West secured the Championship with their win early in the day against Country Riverina and are unassailable on the points table, yet somebody forgot to tell Metro South and although unable to catch the leaders, staked their claim for runners-up honors with a terrific 4-2 triumph over Metro West who are to be congratulated on their fine efforts to gain the Championship.
Metro East also staked their claim for runners up and finished the day on the same number of points and the final round will decide the team to join Metro West in the presentation ceremony.
At Wagga Wagga  in the 14 titles, Metro Far South proved that consistency is the key and grabbed 6 points today to claim the Championship with one round to go.   Congratulations to Metro Far South, they have performed magnificently all week.  The fight for the runners-up tag will be decided on Friday with Metro West on 15 points playing Metro East and Metro South on 14 points playing Country Riverina.
The Under 15 titles continued at Orange and it is Metro East leading the way on 19 points, but Metro West have stood up to be counted with 6 points today leaving them on 17 points and ensuring a great finish on Friday when both these teams will meet to decide the Championship.
A draw will ensure Metro East take the title, but Metro West will have nothing to lose and can be expected to throw everything at their opponents who will need to be at their best.
Whilst in Nowra, the Under 16 titles have produced another fantastic Friday with undefeated Metro Far South defeating the previously unbeaten leaders Metropolitan Far North 2-1 in a fantastic game of football.  This game was a credit to both teams and left the many spectators drained after supporting their teams.  Friday will see Metro Far North play Country Southern while Metro Far South will play Metro North.
COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Incorporated within the Football NSW State Titles are the Country Championships which are battled out between the Country Southern, Country Western & Country Riverina.  The Country Champions in each age category is decided on results overall, i.e. all matches against all regions.
With just one day to play in the Under 11?s the Champion has already been decided with Country West on an unbeatable 11 points (with three assured against the NSW Country 14 Women?s, as per the competition rules) to take them to 14 with Country Southern on 8 points and Country Riverina on 3 points.
In the 14?s we see Country West on a guaranteed 10 points (as they are also playing the 14 women tomorrow) with Country Southern on 9 points in with a big chance and Country Riverina ensuring a tough tussle with 7 points.
The 15?s Country Championship sees Country Riverina already Champions on 9 points from Country West and Country Southern.
The 16?s Country Champion is also decided already as Country Southern have amassed 10 points from Country Riverina and Country West.
Now I am off to Orange for the final day tomorrow and hoping the freezing conditions warm up a bit to ensure a great morning of football.
